Tally the cost of the failed & development limbo projects and you might get sick.
Men forgot PNM project pride where some 450million was spent and nothing to show for it.

Project Pride? I'm sure I confusing it with that independence day CD and the Going for Gold song.

Sounds like history lesson time.

Question for you, because contractors who delivered work made a profit, why do you see that as corruption? You think if it was as corrupt as you claim, wouldn't PNM be all over this like they were with the Piarco airport? Could it be that, while nepotism was at work, things were done above board meeting all criteria?

but this work was not delivered

Nah, doh say dat. Kamala had a opening ceremony with plaque an ting. So dat mean it open.

Leh we jus forget about all dem contractor who collect millions of dollars in advance payment under de PP and eh dig out one bit of dirt at de site, and now walk away with the cash.

What do you considered delivered? Kamala having an openining ceremony for a facility that has no statutory and regulatory agencies approvals that cannot be used and UML putting up pictures to fool the masses?

From what I understand, PNM are currently investigating these contractors. The question is whether they will use the findings from these investigations for the good of the people or for their own good, which hardly ever aligns with the good of the people.

From what I have seen, PNM are really no better than the UNC, they just duncier and can't hide the corruption as good as the UNC.
Heard if you say her name three times UML appears just in time for the election season

I always hear this the other way around. Calder Hart ever got charged?
Anyway, why a waste water treatment plant rather than another desalination plant? Is it that the waste water was becoming a problem to dispose of and causing damage to our ecosystem?

Research done on Project Pride.

How you could spend 450 mil according to Zoomie, and some people only now hearing about it?

Prior to this thread you all never knew about Project Pride? A project where even Hazel Manning ate a food dubiously and yet we as a people saw it fit to vote back in Patrick a further 2 times.

I googled "Trinidad and tobago project pride".
Richard Jackman also returned nothing for me.

Had a giggle at the majority of the search results though. Rainbow flags everywhere.

It's one of things the PNM never spoke about , money spent and nothing to show for it. Not ever a grain of sand lifted.

The UNC spent 1.3billion and the airports is in full use .

PNM spent 450million and nothing was done.

The only airport PNM ever built was in Barbados, when the PNM gave the bajons money to build it and they never paid it back.

These things folks dont want to hear.

Project pride was early mid 90s when the internet just began. There is not much history on it but the older folks will know of it.

It started mid 90s and money wasted from the PNM. UNC came into power and had to scrap the PNM mess. Within UNC term it was built while PNM took 5 years to do nothing while spending a cool 450million. Panday had called the PNM project a cow shed cause nothing was shown for the money spent. Hazel Manning was running the project.

Older heads on tuner will know of it.

Wendy Francette-Williams
Aviation Consultant

Trinidad and Tobago

Piarco Rainbow International Development Project – Project PRIDE

Construction value: US 85m

Proponent: Hughes Airport Systems foundation and Pegasus Associates

RFP : 1990

Project cancelled 1995

Patrick Manning, Hansard, December 17th 1997
The second initiative, Mr. Speaker, is the positioning of Piarco as an
alternative air transport hub to Miami into South America. Under the last
administration, the Piarco Rainbow International Development Project (PRIDE) was
addressing the needs of a modern air transport hub, by converting the Piarco
Airport into the principal pivot of hemispheric travel. The privatization of BWIA
and LIAT, coupled with the strategic investment by BWIA in LIAT was a critical
element in this initiative.
Mr. Speaker, currently there are few flights from Latin America to the
Caribbean. Access is difficult and it takes up to 12 hours to get to the Caribbean
from Colombia because flights have to pass through Miami. There is obviously an
opportunity available to Trinidad and Tobago to explore avenues to change this
situation.

But we should not forget the purpose of this particular thread. The immense injustice done to taxpayers under the PP.

Under Aunty Kams we were delivered several contractors living it large in Millennium Lakes in multi million dollar houses, driving only top end European rides and essentially being like kings whilst they did shoddy, substandard or no work for billions of dollars.

Just providing some info as requested by other people in the convo Dizzy28. Not trying to distract, or take away from what obviously was happening under the KPB/PP crew during their tenure.

But to show how the contractors are really the best players in the game that is Trinidad politics, if it is the same wedding I am thinking about the girl side was one of the winners of the PNM's BMW raffle a few years ago.

Get Afra Raymond's TEDX presentation on corruption in TnT.....the unc airport was paid for in the same proportion as the PNM oil boom....

66% stolen or wasted
33% work done.

This govt looks like the last one....and resembles the next one.

yes, but I think this particular project really was a bit blatant
like dire straits song
money for nothing
same thing with maracas beach "upgrade" which ended up being a downgrade

last week in response to rowlee powerpoint,
Vasant boasting about how at least under last PP there were things you could see and touch
wish the dotish reporter had ask him about these projects

allyuh not angry?

Why the AG not protecting the citizens and taxpayers of this country? What happen to the oncology center in Mt. Hope? What happened to LifeSport? Why the Office of the AG not deep investigating this and other issues, like they promised last election, and haul the stink corruption to air out in court?

Because then next time the other side would do it to them right? What about all the nastiness with the Tobago Ferry? And the Curepe interchange? And it goes on and on and we must pay for it every time. Set of foul, disgusting, vile, black-heart people on every election platform who destroying all of this country and suffering the people year after year. Is every single mc thing must have corruption in it so?

If they did as they promised then Trinidad and Tobago would become a better place for us. If they did as they promised, then here would get clean like Singapore. But politicians not interested in that. They just interested in sharing our wealth in their own pockets.

But wait it's Carnival time 2019.
Nevermind. Nothing to see here.

:| $34M is joke compared to the hundreds of millions a select group contractors collect from advance payments under the last UNC and didn't even mobilise to the sites to do any work.

Let us see if the AG actually going to do anything in the public's interest with the information that he has on these contractors, or if he is going to seek the PNM's interest and get "financing" from them for the upcoming elections.

I honestly don't have my hopes up for him seeking the public's interest, but I would like him to surprise me.

That mob racket is old like the hills-and legal.
Once agreed too by both parties.

WASA had a few drillers that used to charge the entire cost of a well in the mobilization.
it worked for a long time.
then they began their audit procedures like all state enterprises...with a fire in the records dept.

Many UNC top position holders would like to increase their net worth from 500mil to 1 billion so vote for them and they will fix the issues and put us back on track.
