IIRC, the UK and recently Japan require DRL on all passenger cars. I would expect that any recent RHD passenger car bound for world export does have DRL.

If you on the road by yourself - high beams.
From the time you see any oncoming vehicle or you are following another vehicle - switch to low beam.
If oncoming vehicle doesn't reciprocate with their low beam, return high beam until they get the idea - this worked better when I had my HIDs(it was just very bright with a high beam hotspot to the oncoming driver) or my Honda halogens (it turns on both H4 filaments when you pull the stalk).
