Police have held for people four the double-murder in Aranguez this morning, involving a police officer.
The two men were shot dead in a car outside of a popular BBQ outlet.
Police issued the following statement around 2pm this afternoon.
"Four suspects have been detained in the shooting deaths of 19603 PC Russell Ramnarine and UWI engineering student, Avery Keshwar.
PC Ramnarine, 24, and Avery, 22, of College Road, St Augustine, were both gunned down at around 5:15am today, Monday 14th December, 2015, at Aranguez Road, Aranguez, in the vicinity of a popular barbeque outlet.
Reports are that PC Ramnarine, who was on duty at the time, along with a uniformed officer of the St Joseph Police Crime Patrol, were following-up on a report made by Avery of a stolen cell phone among items. They accompanied the victim in an unmarked vehicle to Aranguez to meet the suspect to retrieve the stolen items.
When the suspect observed the uniformed officer seated in the vehicle, he took off on foot causing PC Ramnarine who was in plainclothes; and the other officer, to alight from their vehicle and give chase along Williams Street, Aranguez. The uniformed officer continued the pursuit while PC Ramnarine made his way back to the vehicle where Avery was still seated.
Upon entering the vehicle shots from the nearby barbeque outlet were fired at both men who subsequently died at the scene. There was no exchange of gunfire.
PC Ramnarine was sworn in as an officer on October 8th, 2014.
Four persons from the Aranguez district are currently assisting Homicide Detectives with the investigation.
Snr. Supt. (Ag.), Oswald Cudjoe, of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations is spearheading investigations.
Commissioner of Police (Ag.), Stephen Williams, joins with other officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service in extending condolences to the family and loved one of PC Ramnarine and that of Avery Keshwar."

Damn unfortunate,a police vehicle would have prevented this,oh but it was a 'sting' op..
Is this murder? In the legally defined sense I think not,it's still homicide though. I really believe the police would try their best not to classify this as murder, the truth is the key to this case and so far people have confessed and explained.
Damn sad but it comes right back down to the prevalence of illegal guns out there.

That is murder, once you have a FUC,you are supposed to know when to engage, you don't fire on a car just so because it park up outside your business place. That come like you are in possession of a fire arm,see a guy dressed as a gunta walk in your business to patronize, but you feel he is a bandit, buss some cap in his a$$,only to discover he is unarmed and is a fcuking operator for BG.
