Good for them. They prices just aren't competitive now.
Would serve them better to announce 5mb upgrade to everyone instead of doing it on the down low like that

Yeah I didn't realize flow was FTTN
You know what the flow fiber to copper converter box looks like?
I see 2 box on the Pole by St Helena Junction. A smaller white box and a larger one, offcourse there is also a huge silver cabinet on the ground. I am thinking thats where the fiber ends?
However if it is this small long box then that mean fiber is on my street, I dunno you have a pic of what flow's fiber node looks like?
EFFECTIC DESIGNS wrote:btw how come torrents don't work on Flow?
Did they block it completely? I actually didn't know this.
shaq090 wrote:no flow doesnt throttle you but for p2p connections the traffic priority is less... What you need to do is encrypt your packets.,.. there is an option in utorrent.. Options>Preferences>BitTorrent- Protocol Entryption } Forced .. and make sure and check allow incoming legacy connections

there are a couple of posts a few pages back with how to get torrents to download...basically turn on encryption and randomize your port on your client.

Basically I'm just passing through my data to my router... however I am noticing random down times every so often... I'd like to think I need to disable some more on the MoCA Modem. All I disabled was the wireless... My router has been assigned an IP by the Modem via DHCP. Do I have to disable DHCP and assign my router an IP manually? I miss the old modem

I called flow, and they said a truck pulled a line nearby. I informed them I have and exam tomorrow morning (which I really do) and they told me they would make an extra effort to get it fixed. Within the hour they were working on it and at 11pm the internet was back up and running.

This is amazing, when my TSTT line went down because of a truck, they took 2 months to come and have it sorted out which somehow started giving issues again because they were cutting down some old pole and it fell on my TSTT line. It didn't burst but it stretch the line or something and speeds went down hill dialup style.
Unable to wait another 2 months to have a tech come to my house (I was told it could take up to 3 months this time around) I opted for flow as they had just came into my area.
I found 2 to 3 months to be without internet access as utterly unacceptable in this day and age. I then signed up for flow, explained my situation and a contractor came to my house in 3 working days and I was up and running. I found that going from 3 months with TSTT to 3 days with flow a much more acceptable time frame. I am not sure if an actual issue would be resolved even faster as this was just a connection service.
EFFECTIC DESIGNS wrote:^ I would assume it would be much faster than TSTT since FLOW don't have union workers marching for money everyday at their headquarters?
if a truck lick down a line how long do you estimate flow would take to come repair it? whats the worse timing story u ever heard? regardless of the answer I am still of the belief that everybody should abandon TSTT in favor of FLOW. FLOW needs the money to expand and provide Digital for everyone, we should help our brothers and sisters suffering in this country. Let us not support a company that secretly bills you for 5 months after you applied for a disconnection even though their policy is disconnect after 2 months of no pay but conveniently bills everyone who logs in a report for disconnection.
