OP, trades men make more money than any one else plus there's no law to deal with them.

Hard to enforce, or to figure how much they make ,but there are laws for self employed.

Try hiring a Mason , Electrician or general contractor. These guys make a mint without paying any taxes.

That's dependent on a lot of factors.
1) tech skills
2) experience
3) people skills
3) integrity etc

I know many tradesmen whose lifestyle is at both ends of the spectrum.

Become a gynecologist, buy a T shirt that says "I'm not a gynecologist, but I'll take a look!". Get a sharpie and put an "x" over the "not".

Enjoy confused faces as you sport your new fashion statement.

Engneer 1 21K salary after about 3-4 years as a graduate in training. I started off at $3,500.00 plus $1,000.00 traveling allowance. Tax slashes your salary by 1/3. We not that well off.

^^^^With overtime. Only the juniors and techs get overtime (last time I checked). Once you get out of the GIT program, flat salary but well compensated.

^^Since the price of oil dropped, clients holding up on projects all over the industry. Everybody in limp mode on the engineering front except for the bread and butter clients. Material management, construction management and QA/QC jobs are popping up for one and two year contracts though.
