I'm talking TT, (could be more than 4k, I don't really know the local market prices) I don't want to go too expensive on this. The room will be used only for watching movies and playing the campaign/story on games(I use a headset when Im online).
I would like good quality but not top quality.

Its really a system to match the entry level receiver.

I'm using the Def Tech ProCinema 600 in my office and I like it!

it has an unusual front speaker setup, which you can bypass, but it sounds better with it.

Get a Panamax to plug that Onkyo receiver and which ever powered subwoofer you buy in to. It will protect it from surges and clean up line noise brilliantly.

The Definitive Tech ProCinema 600 are great speakers for the price. They are not as bright as the Klipsch that I am accustomed to in my home theater setup (audiophiles may appreciate this more) but they sound full and come with a well matched sub, even though it is tiny.
The recommended way to setup the ProCinema 600 is to run the front left and right speakers from a crossover on the Sub. I didn't use this option, instead I used the more traditional method of running each speaker directly from the receiver. I plan to try both wiring setups to hear which one sounds better.

The Marantz NR1403 and the Def Tech ProCinema 600 or even 1000 are a great matchup for a high quality budget setup.

there is a couch on the other side of the room. The shutters were supplied by OFS Canvas. They are motorised, aluminum shutters, really quiet and burglar and hurricane proof. They are usually mounted outside, but I liked the look so we mounted it inside

it's a polyaspartic coating with an ISONEM screed to level the floor

It was done by Protection Plus Engineering Ltd

They don't quote a avg sq/ft price. They have to do a site visit and test the substrate before recommending what is needed. So each floor will have a different price.

I wanted something hard wearing that was resistant to oil, brake fluid, coolant etc. and easy to clean.

I'm sure. Bose is a fine example of great marketing hype.

IMO Daytons from Amazon for $40 a pair sounds better but look boxy and cheap. Klipsch RC bookshelf also are boxy but look and sound great.

It's difficult though to make tiny satellites and subs that look and sound as good as KEF low profiles or lower priced ProCinema or Energy Take classics.

Aesthetics as well as sound and vision all play a part in home theater setups.

if you got those same daytons, throw some cloth over them and tell ppl they are some high end brand, 9/10 will believe you even if they heard the high end brand before

take the high end brand, in a cluttered, disorganized room....even if they know what brand they are listening to.....i am almost sure ppl will say they heard better or expected better

Definitely. I actually stongly believe a great pair of car audio coaxes in a well designed sealed enclosure can sound awesome for example, but most people will scoff at the idea. The point source for one thing is a huge bonus. And it works out really cheap.

Something we have to remember is that in the early days of HT, we had to have shielded woofers to prevend damage to CRT's so the audio became a bit speciallised. nowadays with plasmas and leds lcds this is no longer a requirement, which leaves the table open to a host of audio options.

I think that's a necessity for great sound. It's why single driver fullrange systems are amazing at music.
