Even the new features like Lane Departure Warning aren't even available unless you buy something German.
Also, many compact sedans are touted as 'family cars' yet they are the least equipped as far as safety is concerned.

why? Most likely because in developed countries there are governmental mandates which specifies the minimum type of safety features a vehicle has to be equipped with as standard.

A car rep once told me; trinis aren't really interested in safety features cuz they really don't know the benefits. After all most don't even wear their seatbelts unless they see the police. They're more interested in tech features and gadgets. He also said once they hear 6 air-bags they believe that they are completly safe.

IMHO, you don't really know you need it or appreciate having it until the near miss or the accident. As someone who drove away safely from a serious near miss that could've been fatal, I appreciate having all the safety features (active/passive) in my SGV.

Yes. ... yes you do. It is the one system I definitely want in my vehicle.
My foot braking system cannot apply brakes faster than 3 times a second.

I'd even want ABS with EBD.

I asked the sale rep. For an update this week and got the following response.

"Amarok should be in here in time for our new showroom, which will be in January.

next mth or so we will be ordering fro stock and maybe special ordering"

What are the specs and prices the Navaras go for these days?

How long is the warranty?

Do they throw in insurance as well?

Drove the jetta yesterday. It's fun to drive. Very fast. I missed the little trinkets that come with my Cerato though. Still don't think it's worth 255k but considering the speed, handling and safety it's a good buy.

Saw these today, just off the highway, near the Munroe Rd. off-ramp. Can't remember the name of the company. Looked good.

The Honda Vezel (HR-V). Brand new @ $300K.

Its actually a 1.6L and I agree the price is high. Personally I would only purchase that at that price from the firm.

Classic Motors have outpriced themselves out of the market a long time ago. They recently reduced the price of their basic CRV from $379k to $329k ... $50k.
