Don't do this.
Why not?

Because it never really works out. Having a professional document everything with competent equipment and an eye for detail will ensure good pictures. At the end of the day, you really only want 10 great shots to document any life occasion. Having 1500 crappy shots is an injustice to the birthday kid. Even I, with over $20,000.00 in camera equipment got two photographers for my baby's first birthday because nobody ever has time to force the perfect picture and manage an event. Nobody felt pressured to even take out a cell phone because they knew ( and were told) that the photographers will be covering the event. I was not disappointed.

Although I agree with what you are saying, there are many people who don't seem to care about the 'quality' of their images. I've had many people show me pictures that they thought were the 'greatest pictures ever taken' even though the images were out of focus, grainy and either severely under or over exposed. And this from people who can well afford to pay for a professional.
There are also a ton of people who claim to have a 'photographer in the family'. Usually an estranged uncle or some little nephew who bought an entry level DSLR (or these days a mirrorless) and firmly believe that because of this they are as good as or better than the true professionals. Even though they are always in Auto and have no idea what ISO, aperture or shutter speed do. Don't even get me started with composition (or lack thereof).
Then there is another group that think Photoshop, Lightroom, Gimp or whatever can fix any picture, even though the original was in jpg and not raw to begin with.

Sorry for the rant, this season was just frustrating with people asking me to 'fix' their 'crappy' pictures.

To be honest, yes I could use it. Just need to do about 15 more event shoots to justify it. The 50 is pretty good for the baby and kid portraits arhat I do most of the time. I only did about 3 events in 2013

Quick question for the phototakerouters. Other than getting someone to bring in a DSLR for you, what's the most cost effective way to bring in a camera? Any skybox alternatives? Don't want to get jam with taxes.

Buy locally here on tuner, check Davids Film View on stone street POS, Photographic Agencies Limited on Independence square POS, other photographers, Cariszone.com.
DO NOT BUY IN PRICESMART if you value your money.... you may as well bring it in through a skybox.

Well I don't know of anyone else locally who sell as a legit store to advise. I always wait until I travel or someone else to bring it.

Interestingly I only paid a couple hundred to ship and clear a lens a few months ago

T&T film festival announced plans to remove duties on photo and video equipment bit I'm not sure when that is supposed to happen.

B+W and Hoya are tops when it comes to Filters spend your money ( I dont use them for protection and use a Cokin system for effect ) .
