Went day before yesterday to the Volkswagen dealership to check out their cars, and got their most recent prices. Thought I'd list them here for the benefit of everyone.

Polo 1.4L $170,051
Jetta 1.4L TSI $230,000
Jetta 1.4 TSI (sunroof) $240,000
Golf Variant 1.4L TSI $227,000
Passat Comfortline 1.8L TSI $300,000
Passat Highline 1.8L TSI $333,000
Passat Highline 2.0L TSI $373,500
Passat Highline 2.0 TDI (Diesel) $368,146
Passat CC 2.0L TSI $438,410
Passat CC 2.0L TSI (sunroof) $448,680
Golf GTI 2.0L TSI $360,785
Tiguan Trend 2.0L TSI (170hp) $327,205
Tiguan Track 2.0L TSI (210hp) $341,591
Tiguan Sport 2.0L TSI (210hp) $393,445
Tiguan Sport 2.0L TSI (210hp, sunroof) $403,910
Touareg V6 3.0L TDI (Diesel) $701,109
Touareg V6 3.0L TDI (Diesel, sunroof) $710,309

I'm not sure how recently the prices in the first post of this thread were updated, but some of these are not much different from those older prices. Probably one of the few new car dealerships where some of their prices haven't skyrocketed over time (if in fact the old prices haven't been updated in some time).

Under all seriousness though, their prices are pretty competitive compared to the Japanese competition, given the engine and equipment that their cars come with. Drove in the Tiguan Sport 2.0, and have to say it pulled quite surprisingly for an SUV with the 2.0 turbo and 7 speed DSG - I was impressed with it, compared to a RAV4 or CRV. Handled very nicely for an SUV as well, nice firm (not harsh) ride with controlled body roll. The sales rep said it was cheaper than the RAV4 too.

the RAV4 starts @ $290K and goes up to $357K... all with a 2.4 engine, and widerbody than the 2008-2011 models.

the 2013 RAV4 and Corolla should be out late this year... both would be new designs.

This is good news but I've learned not to expect much from Toyota, they're always behind on the times, hopefully this time around they add some more comfort features to their vehicles, but then again the brand Toyota sells for themselves.

Still shopping around for a new SUV.

Not so sure how much wider the body is but it's definitely a longer wheel base. I believe with the Rav-4 2WD Basic Allow version is going for $284,000 at the moment ONLY for the models that are in stock. (part of their 45th Anniv. special).
They are all 2.4l and feel a lot more torquey than the 2.0 model ... I was quite surprised...

Given the price of corollas and Civics (entry level) which cost about the same if not more...and don't have half the features (climate control? 8 airbags?), handling, or power (0-60 in 8.7 seconds?)...that price still ain't that bad.

Sucks considering two yeas ago, the old one was like 160 something though :?

My biggest gripe with the Suzuki SS is the trunk space. I can't spend almost 200k on a hatch and not fit a cooler in the back.

As I said before, the Fiat Bravo 1.4T is not in the SSS class but is cheaper and basically all that a SSS driver would need.

alluh good oui....best bang for the buck rite now is the vw golf wagon for 227k...it will fit not 1 cooler but coolers and it'll smoke the SSS even with a full load of passengers and luggage. Same justification applies for the cerato koup. 195k for what exactly? They only look fast but still shocked that a roro altis would still run dem ting down LOL.
