this is very true , I only noticed this Wednesday night when I was counting my sim cards

the older circuits are actually the same size of my entire scissor cut micro sim.

not really

I added this code to the carrier.plist

Code: Select all

      <dict>
         <key>IsAPNUserEditable</key>
         <true/>
         <key>Label</key>
         <string>Tethering</string>
         <key>apn</key>
         <string>internet</string>
         <key>password</key>
         <string></string>
         <key>username</key>
         <string></string>
      </dict>

but the instructions were to re-save the .ipcc file and then in iTunes, option/click on the Update button and navigate to the edited ipcc file. But when I option/click it only lets you choose ipsw files so the ipcc file doesn't even show.

just gave up at that point till I get time to dig around a lil more

Apple's cash is expected to top $70 billion at the conclusion of its current fiscal quarter, a sum so massive it could buy out rivals Nokia, Research in Motion, HTC and Motorola, according to a new analysis.

Collectively, the enterprise values of the four companies that make up 75 percent of all phones sold are $66 billion. And as noted by Horace Dediu in an analysis for Asymco, Apple is likely to have $70 billion in cash when its quarter ends at the end of the month.

The major players left out of the list of four are Sony Ericsson, which has an estimated worth of $3.0 billion, and Samsung, valued at $53 billion. LG's phone business, which has not been profitable the last four quarters, was given a value of $10 billion.

"As market values of phone vendors continue to decline, Apple's cash will continue to grow dramatically," Dediu wrote. "indeed, a time may soon come when Apple's cash will be worth more than the entire phone industry."

In fact, at their current valuations, Apple could acquire every mobile phone vendor with cash alone, except for Samsung.

Apple's growing war chest stems from the fact that the Cupertino, Calif., company is by far the most profitable in both the PC and phone hardware markets. In fact, Apple overtook the market leader, Nokia, in terms of profit in the smartphone business in late 2009, just over two years after the company entered the market with the iPhone.

Image

That lead has steadily grown, with an analysis from Dediu in February showing that Apple's lead over the top mobile phone vendors continues to widen. Since the iPhone appeared, Nokia's profits dropped from an industry-leading $3.5 billion per quarter to $1.3 billion or less.

In the last quarter alone, Apple sold 18.65 million iPhones, a record for the company, with sales growing 113 percent year over year. And even with what was said this January to be a 4 percent share of total mobile phone units sold, Apple takes in more than half of the mobile industry's profits.

------

Razorrainfly reports that Jailbreak Me, the browser-based jailbreak solution for iPhone, could be updated to version 3.0 today. Plus, a tantalizing iPad hint was briefly published earlier today.

An image at jailbreakme.com (as of this writing) depicts a ski slope and a sign warning of a black diamond, which denotes a difficult path in skiing parlance, and "PDF" further down the slope.

The "PDF" could refer to a PDF exploit used by the service last year, but that's speculation.

redsn0w posted an image that appeared on jailbreakme.com early this morning, showing the iPad (below). There is little detail for now, but we'll monitor the site.

On a Canadian factory unlocked model MC605C, once i swap to a Digicel sim it reverts to "carrier 10.0". I even used it in USA with a AT&T prepaid microSIM that i got from an AT&T store. Once you connect to iTunes it will update with the carrier .ipcc file.
So if I get a person with a digicel SIM that they cut for an iPhone 4 and I put it in my phone, the ipcc will revert to 10.0 giving me back my Personal Hotspot and from there I just avoid updating the carrier profile in iTunes once I put back in my bmobile SIM??

When you switch to the Digicel sim you will get the option to configure Cellular Data Network - Internet again which is "web.digiceltt.com", switch Cellular Data off then on and Personal Hotspot will reappear, and the carrier will auto switch to carrier 10.0

when you revert to Bmobile sim it will auto switch to carrier - bmobile 10.1 since the CW_tt.ipcc file is already installed.

If you do a Restore tru iTunes, it removes the bmobile .ipcc file but you immediately get the Carrier Update notification for bmobile 10.1. @ which point you can cancel, restore from your iTunes backup to get your Apps etc restored and the Internet setting option for Personal Hotspot will be available, but the Carrier 10.1 notification will keep popping up Over The Air as well (unplugged from iTunes). It detects the TSTT simcard and prompts you to update.

this is the only workaround i see so far, but i didn't bother and just updated the Carrier to 10.1 again

After activating on iTunes and the bmobile 10.1 carrier update - it is LOCKED to bmobile (checked it using both TSTT & Digicel postpaid and prepaid sims)

thanks for clearing that up ;)

I was wondering myself. If I remember correctly 8pm GMT is normally 3pm AST, making 6pm GMT 1pm AST.

Not sure if he was referring to that picture but I saw this on Comex's Twitter
And no, I did not post a picture with a specific release date. Rather, I got really distracted by this scroller business, sorry :p

after refreshing comex twitter page every 5 mins and eventually I saw that and all my hopes went out the window..... but from the look of things I saw he said he is to tired to release anything tonight so 2moro or Sunday I will be anticipating something even if it's a teaser ...once I know he has completed it that will ease my brain.

Applenberry announced their untethered, no need to dial 112 unlock solution today for the iphone 4. These are the same guys with the gevey and gevey pro sims, but like all good things there's a downside, you have to jailbreak your phone and install their repo. No word on pricing yet but it is legit, called the Gevey Ultra. I for one am sticking with my gevey pro, done with jailbreaking for good but I will sell to those interested once they are released. Listed as coming soon.

Lucian-2nr wrote:After reviewing the plans there actually not that bad considering the price to purchase the phone.

Plan 3 sounds pretty good to me .... $6000 upfront and you receive the handset "free" and they credit the $6000.00 over 24 months.... so thats $250 to the account so essentially you only paying $250TTD a month for the next 24 months and after that you can get out the contract:

250 Minutes bmobile
250 sms bmobile
unlimited so called 4g
unlimited gprs/edge (when it rolls out)

The average cost of a handset is 4000 - 6000 with minimal warranty.

So its like buying an iphone for 6000 and paying 250 for the post paid services.

well thats how i look at it :|

the 250 minutes in bmobile is a rip off like any other bundled minutes.
what bmobile does is that after 3minutes of your own plan they start billing you. so you get 250/3=83 3minute calls. So your screwed any which way
This is what i interpreted from the plan.

http://bmobile.co.tt/plans/personal-plans/

Note 1: *The above bundled minutes apply to all local operators: bmobile to bmobile; bmobile to Digicel; bmobile to Flow fixed lines; bmobile to TSTT fixed lines. The following rates are applicable AFTER the first 3 minutes: bmobile to bmobile – $0.50; bmobile to Digicel – $0.50; bmobile to Flow fixed lines – $0.50; bmobile to TSTT fixed lines – $0.50. Note 2: ** The Additional Rate applies to out-of-bundle minutes used for calls made to ALL local operators.

not apple, the carrier. Apple doesnt lock the devices. AFAIK carrier does. well so they say... If you call apple they'd say call the carrier.

Personally I don't think the gevey ultra is worth it because you have to jailbreak your phone, if you don't have a problem with that I say go for it but the gevey pro is good for me for now, next iphone that comes out I know to buy factory unlocked, well unless it comes physical sim card less then we may be screwed when it comes to network compatibility here.

And anyone who says that Apple unlocked their iphone is lying. The unlocking of iphones is left up to the carrier. Although about two months ago someone in Apple was unlocking iPhones, even AT&T ones. It was unofficial and lasted about two weeks, I missed the window :/
