Postby shagadelic99tt » April 4th, 2010, 11:00 am

well have a 4mb package and not working as it use to...did a speedtest on blink's website and it says 4192kbps which is the speed i'm suppose to be recieving, but when i do the test on other sites, like speedtest.net i'm getting 0.94mbps...what seems to be the problem here?

Diamond works best. Imported foil messes with the box output transistors and forces the torroids beyond heating limitations.

Yeah, it working real crappy this weekend. I enabled the system logs on my modem and discovered that the link is dropping on average every 10 minutes during the day, but a bit more stable during the night, dropping every 30 minutes.

Point taken but business premium sounds soooo much better than basic plus. I mean , the repercussions are immense. No self respecting businessperson would hook up any inferior sounding internet package in a workplace where investors may frequent.. It's bad management. Would you like to tell YOUR clients or potential investors at your workplace that you have blink 'basic plus' or blink 'business premium?'

I thought so... that extra $1000 doesn't seem like so much now does it?

what you do is this:
ask her what server the blink speed test is tested against. most likely she won't know and just sit there like an idiot. ask her where practically all websites, gaming/download servers are located. are they located in trinidad? she'll sit there some more like an idiot and won't know the answer. then ask her why you would give a damn about blink's speed test, and why they should take an independent speed test (speedtest.net) seriously. then ask her to talk to someone who actually knows how this stuff works.
i'm going thru this same sh!t with flow for the last month

I am getting the same result as evo_chic.

But if these speed tests show something different that blink's is it that blink's is rigged? If so isn't that illegal and can reported to somewhere? RIC, Bureau of Standards or something?

No it is not rigged.
Read up a little on how ADSL works and read up on Wide Area Networks.

What you are paying for as per your contract is 2MB, 4MB or up to 10MB between you and the ISP. And you are getting that. So you are getting what you paid for technically. To test this you use the Blink Speed Test. Use speedtest.net to see what you are getting outside. The ISP cannot guarantee the connection speed between you and a 3rd party server, only between you and the ISP.

And before anyone jumps in to argue: I have no justification for the reason why you signed the contract if you didn't agree to its terms.

Thanks for the info Duane, I am not about to argue I just wanted to know what could be causing the difference in speed tests, I sent an email to blink asking them what could be causing this as well as asked the customer service person and my email went unanswered and the customer support person could not answer.

I understand that I wont be getting full speed, but having 20Kbps consistently for the past week has been annoying.

Once there is a rational explanation for the variance in speed tests then I am okay with it.

But getting so much LESS in bandwidth than usual is definitely a problem that needs to be fixed.

if they can assure you that it's their fault, or our fault, or line problems, then allow the consumers to know exactly what going on :|

^ due process. Once a complaint is filed there would be a process of rectifying that problem. It is YOUR responsibility to make sure that your report was properly made through the most efficient channel. They cannot fix what they are unaware of.

it is usually not wise to use slander and libel, suggesting a company is undertaking illegal and unfair trade practices when all you want to do is ask a question about something you honestly did not understand yourself
