hahahaha pod dey rasta  ( translated as that pod looks goofy/ghetto )

but seriously , i read in alot of forums that you should try to keep the tweeter near the midbass but umm... that would give you sucky stage height wouldnt it ?

i have my tweets in the sail posts and my stage height is ok ... just on top the dash

and btw wdmc (err i mean what the hell)

typical door setup except because the tweet is SO much closer to the listeners ears, Bad phase issues will be apparent with the imaging and soundstage, what ever happened to zero plane delay :?
will this work for a daily driver? of course

Image

Image

same as comment as above, the angled pod may not make any difference as the plds are not minimised in this install with the same phase issues occuring with the tweeters, imd phase shifts but most of all plds :?
will this work for a daily driver? of course

Image

Image

looks like a competition setups\ here, kick panels to minimise plds, tweet kept close to mid range, of axis tho(possibly prefab kick, depends on car acoustics), to eliminate phase shift, but this would work properly once the speaker in the kick is the main point source, and the speaker in the door is Not playing the same thing(imd), eg Only mid bass preferebly crossed lower than the wavelength of the width of the car

Image

am...soundstage, imaging , listening position, actually everything is wrong with this..no

Image

tweet lower from the listener than the mid, zero plane delay, nicely made kick and custom mounted midbass driver(due to the work on the custom pods) door prob prepped well
this is the most competition like install there

The first 2 pics rovin posted are mine... that setup is in an old truck that is my daily driver.

I experimented with that tweeter up in the A pillar by the dash, lower near the mid, etc and the location you see there is what sounds best. Also I was not too concerned with making it look show quality, not worth the effort IMO, just wanted it to perform well.

BTW those are CDT ES components in case anyone wanted to know.

for an SQ judge it makes absolutly no difference as to how or where the speakers are installed nor what brand is used

all we are interested in is how it sounds

note these r all personal daily sets eh not comp level

im not a sq pro thats why i made this thread so that ppl who know can comment on it in detail like how jeff did - my point wasnt to make fun of anybody's personal daily set (& brands were never discussed) but to point out certain stuff i noticed like

1st pics - probably sounds great for all i know looks a bit too square , could have been made with some rings for a neater look

2nd set i found d black kinda clashed & tweeter probably a bit too low

3rd & last set - well i thought d tweeter was a bit too low too ... there gotta be a reason why A pillars is such a popular spot for tweeters among audiophiles

2nd to last pic well honestly i have never seen anybody locate a tweeter almost above ur head & the guy apparently got pissed & cussed me for saying so ... :x ....

Those with the tweets low down in kicks may use ambient tweets up on the A pillar or dash to help pull there stage up @ dash level or higher.

Not only that if you use tweeters in the kick panels, they should be at the back position. Not Front.

i like the last setup (3-way ) the most. tweeters lower than the mids would have been done so that a line of sight exists between tweet and listener. there are also acoustic benifits too.. less reflections off harsh sufaces.

the midbass in the door is obvious.... better low end response in a large enclosure. midbasses are built with high vas .. for free air application.

i think the other installs are weird cause the distance between mid and tweet are high... also the angles are weird. but saying all dis in a vacuum is bad of me. they might sound good. tweets may be out of phase. i have my tweets on a=pillars out of phase

thinking bout installing some tweet by the tringle where the side mirrors what do you all think? I know it is bad for pld, but if I put on the kick panel sound stage will be low.

u running active?

if so try a second pair of tweets on the sail posts or higher and attenuate them

i was reading that above 1600 hz or so its the levels that help determine stage more than time alignment ... so even if u dont have ta it will be easier for you to achieve decent results.

wat crowd please ppl need to do is not just put more mids to make more noise, but since you already have SO much, and u know u louder, try to get it do sound a bit more complete and full..rather than lacking and just LOUD
