Really, I wanted to purchase one, didn't realise you need extra stuff to bring it in

You may not need anything extra if it's below the weight specified by Civil Aviation where you're required to register it.

I can't remember the exact weight requirement, but I recently purchased a DJI Mavic Mini which is only 249 grams, and it was processed through Customs like normal. No extra paperwork or drama required.

Yeh the one I want is 530 grams which should be ok.. Our drone law once 750g and above requires registration well but as well all know depends on the officer mood that day and if he get horn or if he wife eh cook for he etc.

Ah boy, well at 530 grams you have nothing to worry about.
Customs might even classify it as a toy.

Customs ever put their own value on your items. I submit an invoice showing I got it for $80 yet still they put the actual retail price and charge me taxes on it so it ended up to around $300 and something more...

...Still has to reach Trinidad and get through Customs.

sounds about right. You know the gov't would prefer you spend your money in TT right? don't see em making it easy for importers.

Typically the only value I see in Aeropost is the 0% tax you pay to ship to their Miami address, and free returns.
So I only use them for expensive items where the tax is significant, and where i definitely want the free return option (laptop, cellphone etc.... ).

Its just that I find their service is equivalent to snail-mail. I have rebranded them Escargot-Post.

Otherwise, I go with RPM and JSL for the less expensive stuff.

Exactly the same way I operate...
had it not been for free returns....

The freight forwarder (Aeropost) needs 2 weeks to forward freight. And then I still get to play the waiting game at Swissport (Customs)

I think I waited about a 5 days extra . But it wasn’t as bad as how the email they send seems so ominous

Postby S_2NR » November 15th, 2021, 9:05 pm

agent007 wrote:How are your Aeropost waiting times like now guys? I'm down to 8 - 11 days now.

2-3 days to clear customs after being received in trini.
With prime, 5-7 days from placing order to delivery.

One or two "delayed flight" here and there which taking longer.

takes longer for Trini freight forwarders to update their system that a package arrived than the amount of time it takes to ship an item coast to coast US, why even use prime if it is going to bottleneck in a warehouse. let me guess, they don't work on saturdays and someone came down with the CV. Heard this many times -trust

Its a funny kind of special when seabox cargo arrives before some air freight forwarders.
