In the interest of time and not reading through 17 pages -
My car was bought in Sep 2015, the CC say year of manufacture is 2015 with no other detail such as month.

Clearly any car bought in Sep was manufactured months before in order to have been shipped and thing.

The 5 years is counted down to a specific month? In which case which document shows this?
Or just go get the inspection done and avoid any potential hassle?

There are model years and there are production dates. For the 2015 model year, the typical production date will range from July 2014 to June 2015. This is true worldwide.

Your vehicle production date should be stamped on the engine compartment VIN plate.

Is it a JDM? Check the chassis number on the plate and plug it into https://www.japan-partner.com/check-man ... -year.html

You're using the frame no. line.

Eg. for a Toyota aqua NHP10-6369875
Include the dash.

I'm trying to attach a plate for you to see but this app is a frigging piece of sheit software. "upload failed! Need valid forum ID" whatever tf that means.

Side note:
VIN plates sometimes have the month and year of manufacture. If it is not visible, check the seatbelt data. Most seatbelts usually have a date. If both fails, do a VIN search and you would get the date.

When one purchases a brand new vehicle fresh out of the boat, meaning it did not really get time to sit in bond or in a storage lot before being sold, the vehicle itself can range from 3 months to 7 months old. If a vehicle has been sold to you but the manufacture date shows that it is beyond 7 months in age, you need to ask some questions or get a discount. Also ask yourself, why did this vehicle sit down for so long in inventory before it was booked and subsequently sold.

What some dealers do when they can't find critical spare parts for their customers, the quickest thing they do is to pull from an actual vehicle in inventory.

They will then take their time to order the replacement part and install it on the "brand new" vehicle. When this is done, they then sell you the vehicle to get it out of inventory as the longer it stays there, it racks up cost.

So if any sales rep says it takes 7 months for a car to reach POS from Tokyo, then they lie.

Most likely a vehicle purchased from a high volume selling dealer like say SS with the CX5 or Massy with the XV in May 2020 then I am certain the manufacture date would be early 2020 or late 2019. Anything older = red flag.

It's actually 9 demerit points plus the $1000 fixed penalty.

So went to the Inspection Station this morning and ran into an issue

My car has the chassis number on the body below the seat as well as on the front windscreen
There is an issue with the 9th character between the two places - on the body its a Z and on the windscreen its an S. The station says they have to use whats under the seat so therefore my certified copy is inaccurate as it has the number as on the windscreen.

This is a simple change in Licencing Office?

You need to walk with a photo copy of your ceritifted copy and the original ceritifted copy.

Then go in the line where they do transfers and present car and certs to officer and explain your problem.

They will check and submit a form of correction. That's the easy part.

After it takes about 1 month to correct, in my case it took 4 months for a bike. I had to supply where the duties and taxes was paid from the dealer when it landed.

They may think that you brought a knock down car and assembled it to advoid paying the correct taxes.

It's a hit and miss and a can of worms, plus tons of calls otherwise they do nothing if you dont push it.

In my case I had to write letters to the head of LO and Minster of Works to get it to changed

Well it was bought new from the firm so I assume that should be an easy verification. I will walk with the stuff from back then - Invoice from Massy etc.

The admin LO, passed all my documents to customs to confirmed that it was paid. They may ask you to supply the customs ducs from massy so customs can check that it matches.

People was using bogus docs to register knock down cars as if taxes was paid

I had to go through this. They check everything now.

Hope they dont make you go though this .

Let us know how it went with you.

I got my chassis # corrected when I went to do an engine change. Same thing, Chassis Number started with AA345 on the cert but it is actually AA34S.

The officer did everything.. he just filled out the form and when I eventually checked it a few months later when I got new certified copy it was corrected.

You know anybody with my specific experience?
Based on the windscreen the chassis number on the CC is correct, based on the below seat location the S should be a Z.

Who did you speak with at Massy as my vehicle is Massy as well?

But seeing as my vehicle is at 5 years would they even take me on or should I just go to Licensing directly?

Take your car to LO first .

The front line officers will submit the change to Admin , but it's up to the admin officers if they need addition documents. It all depends if they think you on skull.

It would appear that way.
And looking back at the Pro Forma and Invoice from Massy they also only used the window one. Because at all times only the window one is used a a reference on all their paperwork even before licensing of the vehicle.

My sales rep died one year after I bought my car.
He was leaving Massy's showroom on a motorcycle after a Massy sales event and ran into the side of a pickup on Tragarete Road.

Update
Licensing Office said the letter is an S and not a Z as the inspection station was insisting. They signed and stamped the inspection checklist certifying the letter is an S and I went back and eventually got my inspection sticker.

I have attached a portion of the chassis # below to show what the character itself. It's the last one.

Inspector mustbe have a mirror inside his eyeballs so he can't see the direction of a Z vs. S
And it copied on the windscreen plate. And it's on the certified copy. And he must have seen thousands of Korean Hyundais, he must have seen this several times before. And there is an easy way to verify which one is real by checking one of the many online databases available e.g. https://www.vindecoderz.com/EN/check-lo ... CP5U167146 and comparing it with the car right in front his face.
