I find it disappointing that they brought this to market and not the fan-submitted fully functional Defender, which got the 10k votes but failed the review stage

This was made before the launch of the 2020 Defender.
It will be assembled in Slovakia https://media.landrover.com/en-us/news/2019/09/introducing-new-2020-land-rover-defender but from their track record in recent times....meh
