A single 2x4 column should handle 600+ lbs., IIRC. A 1 inch steel tube is probably about ten times that.

Well I got the plans of a website dedicated to aquarium enthusiasts... And the specific thread had plenty of positive ratings from people that built..with pics.
The thread is about 8 years old.

Once that hurdle was done its a.project for Jr and I in order to get him away from buying solution s and getting him involved.

If its metal...I would have to get it fabricated.

Ok, all vertical loading
I guess the green pieces are to prevent swaying which would normally be better stopped with diagonal bracing.

With the cabinet doors and surfaces shown on the link, that would be a pretty good looking aquarium stand.

circular saw even if u have to buy 1 is about $600 & a plastic triangle square about $25

u can hold d square with ur hand or even if u want to buy 2 clamps thats about $25 each ..... when u done d job u have all d tools to keep for rest of ur life

You can make that easy too
Once you have a good square to check it against
Or get somebody to weld one for you

A lot of guys build complete big aquarium out of plywood with a single piece of glass.
They use epoxy paint to waterseal inside.

if u can weld & have a basic lincoln welding plan , a 14" metal chopsaw & 4.5" grinder : for me its far more easier to make something out of steel than out of wood , 9-10 times u simply butt joint & weld , no fancy wood joints just basic straight welding

making it of 2x4 with basic lap joints is simple too ...

Can do much more than a regular hammer drill

Cordless hammer drill:
Pros:
More convenient
Less chance of a shock hazard
May have a built in task light

Cons:
Batteries wear out even if you don't use them
More expensive
Can be unwieldy

Corded hammer drill:
Pros:
Lighter
Less expensive
Much longer useful life
More powerful for the same size and weight
Can use larger bit shanks
Can be more durable

Cons:
Must be plugged in
Can present a shock hazard

Most of the same points are true no matter what type of power tool that you're talking about.

Sorry to bother y'all again but I had intended to purchase the drill and impact combo, happened to check elsewhere yesterday on the impact unit alone and was asked if I wanted the impact DRIVER or impact WRENCH.

Checked them both and left just to get more info regarding the 2 units. The impact driver needs the adapter to use sockets which is ideally what I want it for (home garage use) whereas the wrench is ready to go. Huge price difference between the 2 so I was wondering if the driver unit would really be the 'Best Buy' with the combo.

A Dewalt I/driver alone was about $1300 VAT excl ... same 20v as the Milwaukee unit in the combo deal

Driver doesn't have the torque as the wrench and essentially two different tools

Agreed
I have the 3speed dewalt and that goes up to “152ft lbs” and yes, it can take off wheel nuts, but not very well.
It struggles on tough bolts and even broke 2 adapter and a driver bit

no as it doesnt have flutes to keep it driving forward in a centered manner
it has flutes but designed to clear the chips

you could probably use a router bit in a drill press with the target piece firmly clamped.

Go with the Impact Wrench because you'll be able to handle bigger things like lug nuts and suspension bolts making those jobs considerably easier.

Impact drivers will struggle if not fail with more demanding tasks. Not only do you lose some torque when using adapters but they can snap (even the brand name ones) especially if it's those thin shaft 1/4" hex to 3/8" or 1/2" ones you're talking about. The tool will also have to work harder to break larger fasteners which can shorten it's life.

Porter cable has a cheap corded impact wrench that will cost less than 1k landed
And is better suited if you are gonna use it frequently on tougher projects
Imo it's only useful for wheel nuts and larger bolts/nuts

The impact driver is more useful around the house for screwing and tightening/ removing stuff that requires less torque
