The average price per liter in the US is $0.69 (TTD4.675).

The US average fuel tax is between $0.35 and $1.00 per gallon ($0.09 to $0.26 per liter) depending on the state that it is sold in.

US fuel prices will therefore vary, on average, between $0.60 and $0.95 (TTD4.06 to TTD6.43) per liter on a state by state basis.

USA average fuel prices have fallen nearly 20% in the last 90 days.

Because fuel prices are fixed by the government, TTO consumers do not benefit from currently lower supply prices.

-----------

Gasoline prices, 11-Feb-2019: The average price of gasoline around the world is 1.09 U.S. Dollar per liter. However, there is substantial difference in these prices among countries. As a general rule, richer countries have higher prices while poorer countries and the countries that produce and export oil have significantly lower prices. One notable exception is the U.S. which is an economically advanced country but has low gas prices. The differences in prices across countries are due to the various taxes and subsidies for gasoline. All countries have access to the same petroleum prices of international markets but then decide to impose different taxes. As a result, the retail price of gasoline is different.

Have you ever compared the cost of living in the US to Trinidad? We too spoil, we can't afford to live in the US. Let them have their cheaper gas.

The current cost of living in the US is 25% more than in Trinidad, on average.

States like Missouri, Alabama, Tenessee, and Oklahoma are about 10% below the US average. States like New York and California are nearly 40% higher. Hawaii is higher still at 90% above the US average.
