This thread proves the prevailing cluelessness in a section of Tuner. I think people are forgetting that even though Maduro is unpopular and even his core support seems to be evaporating, he's still the elected leader of a sovereign nation? Just because Trump is too stupid to not just blurt out an outright call for regime change, means that our leaders (Kamla) should jump on that toxic bandwagon? Especially when we don't know how far they'd be willing to go? Being neutral is the wisest bet, for now, because while we're with the people to remove him from office, it should be done by calls for diplomatic transition talks and not merely picking sides, interference, or force. Yes sh!t-eaters, some situations are more complicated than black and white.

Remember when the CIA coined Manning as megalomaniac, I wonder what studies they doing on the PNM prime minister now.

Ok well he is actually not elected and is keeping power against the Constitution. Keep up and be on the side of good for once in your life.

Say what your want about UNC/PP or even Manning's PNM, but guys like K Ramnarine, Bhow Tewari, Conrad Enill etc were real strategic planners who you could trust to do what's right for the future of TT. Rowley's PNM is a sham, and I'm truly concerned about our future.

Leave them Shogun, they truly are clueless.
Trinis are really some of the dumbest people on the planet. This next one talking about being on "the side of good" for once like is some fcuking popularity test.
You do know that if you go against the sitting administration then they could consider you a hostile foreign threat right. That essentially means that both Venezuela and TT would be placed on a war footing. We would also have to sever diplomatic ties between both nations and increase military readiness in case of an attack from Venezuelan forces.
It's ez to "take a side"when you not living next door.

Lol just lol. A man steals an election, destroys a country, breaks their constitution to keep power, causes a huge portion of the country to flee. Yet you defending him? If you think Venezuela going to attack we, then I have a tsunami shelter to feel you.
Nothing you say is making any rational sense except to support your leader. Move along or provide support for your argument.
I'll help you out since you look like you might need the help. You can start by saying how supporting Maduro benefits us, or maybe use legal arguments to support Maduro being in power, maybe provide done evidence that his elections results were valid, maybe show how he's being unfairly blamed for Venezuela's (the country with the most oil in the world) economic crisis.
All the time Trinidad abstains from votes, yet this is the time we come out and make a statement.Redress10 wrote:l33t2 wrote:Redress10 wrote:l33t2 wrote:shogun wrote:Lmao.

Whatever happens in Venezuela doesn't concern us. We are a tiny island nation state with no economic or military might so all this talk about intervening in Venezuelan affairs makes no sense. Our position of neutrality is a very rational one. Those who can't see that need help. What happens if we choose a side and our pick loses? Are we prepared to face hostilities for the next couple of years from Venezuela? Guardia National already makes life difficult for our fishermen etc and we are not on hostile terms. What do you think is going to happen once we sever ties? Not more aggression?
Why people so concerned with any deals that we have with Venezuela. Regardless of who is in power there we will always need to maintain a working relationship with the regime. We are separated by 7 miles. You are advocating that we sever diplomatic ties with a nation that is only 7 miles away from us and not face the consequences that come with such a decision. Those deals are with the Venezuelan administration and not Maduro.
You have no clue what you are talking about and again just goes to show that some of you all are clueless as to our position as a geopolitical actor.
Go back to school or read a book.
Dont mind me gentlemen..... As for R10, you made a valid point which I accept but I disagree on the rest of your reply. First of all.....America doesn't need anything from us.
Move diplomats from Venezuela so that they could take their time and leave for the US mainland from here????
Are you really this daft? Do you even understand diplomats and how they live and work? They load up all of their stuff on cargo planes. They don't need any transitional time and they definitely don't need it from Trinidad. I am sure Colombia is more than capable of providing a staging ground for any diplomats.
Set up temporary bases? So now you are advocating for a foreign power to set up military bases on your land? Where would this take place and who would have to be displaced in order for this to happen? You realise that's what aircraft carriers are for? Colombia and Brazil are also well capable of providing staging points for America.
Also, you don't find that this a south american issue and people such as yourself who are unknowingly irrelevant should just butt out? You understand the history of South America and regime change there? Newsflash, situations such as these have been happening for decades.
What gas deals? The gas deals that your broken economy desperately need? Those gas deals? I'm pretty sure that Venezuela barely cares about such deals.
The US is not a friend to TT. TT is irrelevant to the US.
