Russia and Iran sending Military support to Venezuela!

Postby Ben_spanna » December 11th, 2018, 7:40 am

Russia and Iran were both set to send military forces to Venezuela in a show of support to the socialist Latin American nation, whose embattled economy has been further damaged by U.S. sanctions.
The Russian Defense Ministry announced Monday that two Tupolev Tu-160 strategic bombers, an Antonov An-124 heavily military transport aircraft and an Ilyushin Il-62 long-haul plane arrived at the Simón Bolívar International Airport in Caracas. Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino said that up to 100 Russian personnel would arrive as part of a joint air exercise, according to his ministry.
Padrino said "that nobody in the world should fear" the presence of the Tu-160s and other Russian aircraft because "we are builders of peace and not war," touting the country's bilateral ties.
"The aircrew of the Russian Federation are welcome to this heroic land," Padrino tweeted alongside images of the Russian military delegation's arrival. "It is a new opportunity to strengthen our relations in the military field and continue walking a path of cooperation and sincere friendship. Peace is our objective."
Despite this message, the Russian Defense Ministry noted that, "at certain stages of the flight, the Tu-160 bombers were followed by F-16 fighter aircraft of the Norwegian Air Force while the flight was carried out in strict accordance with the international rules on the use of airspace," as cited by Russia's state-run Sputnik News. Moscow's embassy in Washington also affirmed that the 6,200-mile journey was undertaken in compliance with international aviation law.

Keep in mind that Russia has an engagement strategy where they attack first and then attack second and pretend as though the first attack was on them to justify the second attack. Putin already attacked Kiev, tried to annex Crimea and recently seized three Ukrainian war ships after stating that the war ships attacked the Russian ships despite video footage showing the opposite. Also don't forget that Russia shot down a passenger airline (most likely mistaking it for a military aircraft) MH17 a couple years ago as well.

Having any military power under Russian control this close to the US is a huge concern for everyone in the general area as Russia doesn't give a crap about how they use other countries to their own advantage. Especially smaller countries like what they did in Cuba during the cold war.

I think no one but America wants a war would be more accurate. Every one else has more or less held their hands wrt provocations except the Yanks since the end of the Korean War. Where other nations did get involve in a war it was at the Americans behest (2nd Iraq War, invasion of Afghanistan)

Also, that is how America became the richest country in the world. Because of the vast ocean between them amd the rest of coutries likely to be directly involved in the fighting they are always set up to be a massive provider of military resources while suffering minimal devestation. I think they were the only debt free country after WWI and they were the richest country in the world after WW2.

Proxy wars, like Yemen, to fuel the weapons industry are the norm. In fact, look how Chumpy fighting to defend MbS to not jeopardize some arms sales so it will look like he's bringing investments/jobs to the US.

Tin foil hat discaimer.... Consider that Putin is Trump's closest ally. Personally, I don't believe there is any collusion to fuel a war between Russia and the US for Trump and Putin's benefit, mostly because that just seems way too risky and (if we are being honest) complicated for Trump.

This is most likely just Putin pushing some more to see how far he can go before UN allies push back.

the donald isn't interested in vene, & if he talk and say he will it's just that, talk. the wall build yet?
Russia & Iran would gladly send in troops, never mind the distance, because it helps them gain an ally on this side of the marble, an ally that has much more substantial logistical value to them than it would to uncle sam

US will be very interested in this development.

This essentially means nothing to Trinidad.

But the Guyanese should be losing alot of sleep over this.

Venezuela claims almost half of Guyana including I think most of the area where Exxon ( a company thrown out via asset seizure of Venezuela by Maduro's predecessor Chavez) has found 4 billion barrels of oil.

Both Venezuela and Suriname have in the past have harassed companies conducting drilling and exploration exercises. Suriname matter was settled to much to their detriment since their claims were even more ridiculous than Venezuela's.

Guyana has taken Venezuela to the ICJ (International Court of Justice) over their territorial claims but Venezuela has rejected this outright.

So guess what looks like $h17 can get very real as Guyana has no means of defending their territory that far out at sea.

America has a great interest in these events. Uncle Sam was part of the original agreement between United Kingdom and Venezuela in 1899 has come out recently in support of Guyana's claims back in 1899 there was almost a war between the US and UK on these claims.

Well said TMDavid

Exxon lost assets when Vene nationalized the oil.

These oil companies and all very large corporations care only about making as much money as possible environment and people be damned.

One only has to see what Exxon has facilitated and done in Equatorial Guinea and Chad to include them in that group.

So Venezuela throwing out Exxon doesnt even raise an eyebrow for me all of this was under Big uncle Rex.

Meanwhile Russia and Syria are establishing ties for the reconstruction of Syria.
Included is by passing USD for cross currency transactions and trade.

China has CIPS.

Traditional war is so 90s.

Currency wars is what's happening for the last 15 years.

Russia announces plans to set up its first ever military base in the Caribbean - the country's largest presence in the region since the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962

- Russia's TASS news agency reported the base would be in La Orchila, Venezuela.
- The island of La Orchila is situated 125 miles northeast of the capital of Caracas.
- After striking a deal with President Nicolas Maduro military jets will land there.
- It will be Russia's largest Caribbean deployment since the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Russia has announced plans to set up its first ever military base in the Caribbean after striking a deal with cash-strapped Venezuela.

The state-sponsored TASS news agency reported that Russian experts had selected the island of La Orchila, 125 miles northeast of Caracas, as a possible military base up to 10 years ago.

According to the agency, Russia will now be 'deploying Tu-160 strategic aircraft to the island', after seeking permission from Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro.

The deployment will represent the one of the largest semi-permanent postings of Russian military hardware to the region since the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962 - which marked the height of the Cold War.

Image

Venezuelan law reportedly prohibits a full-time military base from being set up within its borders.

However, the deployment of supersonic Russian jets would be 'temporary' - according to official sources.

'It is the right idea to include Venezuela in long-range aviation missions,' military expert Colonel Shamil Gareyev told the Russian newspaper Novaya Gozeta.

'Our strategic bombers will not only not have to return to Russia every time, but also won't perform aerial refueling while on a patrol mission in the Americas.

'Our Tu-160 aircraft arrive to their base in Venezuela, conduct flights, execute their missions and are then replaced on a rotating basis. This is how it should be done.'

The news comes just days after two of Russia's nuclear-capable Tu-160 strategic bombers flew over the Caribbean sea during a 10-hour training mission with the Venezuelan Air Force amid escalating tensions between Moscow and Washington.

The flight of the jets was recorded on video, which Russia's Ministry of Defense then proudly shared on YouTube.

The planes, known in Russia as 'White Swans', arrived at Maiquetia airport outside Caracas last Monday after completing a 6,200-mile journey.

The Russian bombers' deployment has infuriated Washington, where US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo characterized the joint training session as 'two corrupt governments squandering public funds, and squelching liberty and freedom while their people suffer.'

The Kremlin on Tuesday rejected Pompeo's criticism, saying it was 'highly undiplomatic' and 'completely inappropriate.'

'As for the idea that we are squandering money, we do not agree. It's not really appropriate for a country half of whose defense budget could feed the whole of Africa to be making such statements,' spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

And since Growley was shaking hands with Maduro, the diplomatic cables between the POS Embassy and the States must be hot.
