Just because it's legal to cycle on the CRH doesn't mean it's a good idea.
Having unprotected sex with Saucy Pow isn't illegal, but the risk isn't worth it.
I don't understand the shoulder driving especially late at nights early mornings when traffic light anyhow. Went to full up in Ramco Trincity around 12 last night. Coming back home the amount of men breaking red lights by going down the shoulder then going straight across by all those lights was disgusting. And that's with no traffic ah.pugboy wrote:it was just west of wallerfield/cumuto traffic lights
they were on the shoulder and a white navara came overtaking on the shoulder and killed the chap
bonnet flew open up and driver sped away with his head out the window to escape
Stopping shoulder drivers is so easy, just cut rumble strips like every other developed country or put minor humps

UPDATE: Today is another sad day for the cycling community with the death of another member.
This morning, it was reported that members of the Madonna Wheelers Cycling Club from Arima were riding along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway when Aaron Thomas was bounced down by a car.
The driver did not stop.
Riders said the driver overtook another car, driving on the shoulder and hitting Thomas, killing him on the highway in the vicinity of the Demarara Road intersection, Wallerfield.
This comes after the deaths of two riders from the Slipstream Cycling Club, chef Joe Brown and British national, Joanna Banks, in a similar accident on the Beetham Highway on November 10.

So people who wish to cycle from west to East are left with what alternate routes then, or North ot South?? if they cannot go on the highways?
So many places in the world are encouragning the use of Bicycles to promote health and to help with pollution and green house gases and what does Trinidad do?

Driving on shoulder
Improper overtaking
Vehicular manslaughter
Failing to render assistance

Is the highway the only way to access north south and east west?
Why you talking like if someone said don’t cycle on any roads at all?

To ride from Chaguanas to POS is 20km using the highways, and 30km using the Old Southern Main Road/Eastern Main Road as a route. In spite of the longer distance, it would still be marginally quicker to ride on the EMR/SMR to get to town on a typical school morning (compared to driving the 20km route on the highway).
For someone who wants to ride solely just for transport, the most direct route is the highway. It would take less than an hr to ride at an easy pace. Unfortunately this is extremely dangerous as there is currently no infrastructure for this.

There was some uproar from the cycling community.
Social media was pretty abuzz with it.
Didn't see ministerial comment.
This is not a racial issue, so don't try to make it into one.

Two weeks vs one day?
If they want to cycle they have an Olympic stadium to use.
