Hyundai Ioniq 2017 Software Update & Recall

Postby moneybagzkd » October 30th, 2018, 9:08 pm

Hey guys, so today I've sent in my vehicle to update the software in my 2017 Hyundai Ioniq. Not sure how many of you guys this may be applicable to but there is an available update to this model car for the computer's software which Massy will do for free.

I had my mother drop my car off for this today, when I got home from work and reviewed the notes, I saw they also changed the Hydraulic clutch actuator phase cap assembly. After seeing this I looked online and saw there was a service recall on this specific part, from Hyundai earlier this year for some Ioniq 2017 vehicles. The firm will also change this part for free.

Luckily I had it in and it got done together with it, I wasn't sure if Massy had a bulletin out for this or not so I'm just updating you all if you have the same vehicle to give them a call and see if applies to you.

Thanks.

my car was at massy for a part replacement for the whole of last week... and they told me nothing regarding software upgrade nor the actuator replacement.

maybe they weren't proactive about it?

Hmmm, probably not. You should still give them a call and inquire if it applies to your vehicle or not, to see if you can get it sorted as well.

In September 2017.

I should mention that I only found out about the software upgrade when I was talking to the guys at the firm on Saturday when I came in for my 30K service, it came up when talking about the car and how it drives. They said they only do the software upgrade during the week, hence today.

I carried my car in for service earlier this month and they did the BMS upgrade. Nothing was done with the HCA (Hydraulic Clutch Actuator) phase cap assembly. Based on the recall they will inspect the HCA caps for leaked oil and replace the HCA assembly if needed.

Problem Description:
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2017 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid vehicles. The Hydraulic Clutch Actuator (HCA)
inner oil seal may leak, allowing oil to accumulate in the cap area, possibly resulting in an electrical short.
Consequence:
An electrical short can increase the risk of a fire.
Remedy:
Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the HCA caps for leaked oil and replace the HCA assembly if needed, free of
charge. The recall is expected to begin June 20, 2018.
