Trinidad is the only country where buying gasoline and diesel is cheaper than buying crude and making gasoline and diesel

Remember they have to run the refinery at full capacity therefire they have to buy more than 100000 barrels per day of crude to add to our 40000 per day

The huge mega refineries in the states will be much more efficient that ours due to economies of scale

The only time a refinery makes sense is when there is a close supply of crude ( must be sufficient to satisfy maximum capacity which must large) and a big local market

Our refinery fails on both account

It is not even sensible for Guyana with its large reserves to run a refinery since they do not have a large local market

We all have heard Rogets approach....no job loss.
Despite being part and parcel of the situation as it is.

Every industry in the world is doing more with less people..only for the last 50 years ..ask The Auto,Steel and Mining sectors

Again this is about the union....refinery will be restarted.

So if the OWTUs position is immovable....and we all agree that regardless of how efficient your ops are, the staffing component can trump everything-sheer numbers-and industrial action......then what was the solution???

There have been qualified entities with boots on the ground since 2015-making proposals...and ALL came up against the same issue....the OWTU and its no job loss position.

I believe that there is some rule/law/convention that says GORTT cannot operate the refinery without OWTU being the CBU.

So if the OWTU isnt moving then its the GORTT that has to move.

Compare and Contrast to Annissetes(?) position of recent.

The OWTU deserves to be part of the solution and benefit as such....Roget over played his hand....consistently,repeatedly and over the long term

Yes, but managent never called his bluff to run the place properly.
Y?
Because when the bottom level milking the overtime, the top level milking 100k over declaration of oil, and 3bn cost over runs.

And when the time come to take stock , blame the workers salaries, but not the board and management decisions.

Every serious discussion I've heard, saw, read, and been part of, on TV,you tube and in the media started with management the board, the political system and then come down to the union.

It's disengenuous to say otherwise.

That said....given Rogets public vocalizing of his intractable position....the union is always a topical point.....but that is the unions strategy

Any more word on the supposed run on the credit unions?

Well at least now the workers know when they are going home....they can prepare a little instead being in limbo.

2 weeks ago..I was told that TECU is stable because their investment portfolio is robust and well diversified, and sufficient in size to meet any call.

The source is a position to know

Let us not forget FAKE OIL contribution as well. Don't forget who put the board in place and put everyone in place fmto facilitate FAKE OIL.

The small man always pays the price.

Imagine having to still go to work knowing that you loving your job.

Not all would fall but a few would take a hit.
It will not be felt immediately but a few credit unions could take a hit in the coming days, weeks, months. Would only be realised during mid year financial reviews.

Only time would tell how this decision would affect the country.
