This ship yard making its way to start up since Manning- this is one of two.

Once the execution isnt messed up....and its a big IF....then it sounds good.

This is not the same Dry Dock Manning used to push. That was Ettiene Mendez's project with a proposed reclaimed island called Sullivan Island off the coast of PoS.

This one was started under Vasant as Min of MTI in conjunction with the EDB (Economic Diversification Board now EDAB of the Min of Planning).

Always surprised that that project never got any traction given Etienne's standing in the Red party.

Well based on what we have geographically and the hydrocarbons here- its a good idea-

My only real concern -beyond execution, is how will this impact the Gulf of Paria.

300 acres, implied heavy traffic of large ships...and the issues attendant.

^With PNM in charge, the 1% will end up getting ownership of the gulf of paria too and Stuart Young will be acting in a related position

China harbour has been getting a lot of work done recently in delivering large scope jobs. I hope that this proposed dry dock actually gets off the ground quickly.
Would love to see what the EIA recommendations are coming out of the study

I think they deserve it. And I sure no unc go complain.

https://newsday.co.tt/2018/10/03/increases-for-cabinet-appointed-bodies/

EXPENSES for Cabinet-appointed bodies have increased from $34,606,175 in 2018 to $43,080,240 in 2019.

This was revealed under the head of expenditure for the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) in the Draft Estimates of Recurrent Expenditure 2019.

The $43,080,240 figure is divided into $42,080,240 for the National Security Council (NSC) and $1,000,000 for commissions and committees. The Prime Minister chairs the NSC.

Official overseas travel for the OPM decreased from $2,318,400 to $1,000,000. Security services at the OPM were also reduced from $500,000 to $272,000.

The OPM’s expenditure for non-profit institutions decreased from $64,088,900 in 2018 to $63,018,930 in 2019. Ecclesiastical bodies, Heroes Foundation, St Jude’s Home for Girls and St Michael’s School for Boys are included in this group.

The Golden Grove Buccoo Ltd’s expenditure remained fixed at $5,000,000. This company is connected to the Sandals Tobago project.

Under expenditure for the Office of the President, official overseas travel was reduced from $900,000 to $615,000.

Expenditure for the repair and maintenance of buildings increased by $25,000 from $375,000 to $400,000.

Expenses for the President’s establishment increased from $4,550,000 to $5,000,000

AFTER decades of waiting, the San Fernando Waterfront Redevelopment is set to begin.

Decades wait? Buh the PP "started" that toward the end of their term, hence the li'l patch of umbrellas and chairs just after the shacks on Lady Hailes Avenue.

It's the same thing the Pee oN deM is doing — just so they will have something to show for elections. Say what at least ex-Petrotrin workers go have something to do...:|

IDB: T&T Govt spending among most wasteful

TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO Government spending is among the most wasteful in Latin America and the Caribbean, a new Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) study has shown.

The IDB study, “Better Spending for Better Lives: How Latin America and the Caribbean Can Do More with Less”, came out on September 26—days before T&T’s 2019 national budget was read in Parliament on October 1 by Finance Minister Colm Imbert.
