Had three convos with three people over time and all three are confident that a "poor me one" is what they say it is. And the people around them agree.
I saw a bird called poor me one. Heard its an anteater. Also heard its a sloth, never saw that here.
So what exactly is a poor me one? Razkal still around?
Thats what I know it to be. Haven't had the pleasure of ever seeing one. Some words were dished out some time back. A senior employee told me "moo de poh me one from dey, ah coming back".
I stood and looked long and hard for a bird. He came back and cleared the carcass of some small furry animal.
Next thing we have another undiscovered species here like the groundpuppy.
I know d pour me one is a silky anteater according to the side of my relative who does hunt. Plus that bird don't sound like the pour me one. It had one behind our house when I was small, around 8 years old. Every evening I would hear it.
Silky anteater, you can see one in caroni, guides in the bird sanctuary have a keen eye for them. Like stock showed, they look pretty sorrowful and are mostly seen alone hence the imagery associated with them,
I grew-up with the term 'poor-me-one' being used to describe a sad type person who by their demeanor and behavior attracted sympathy. Quite interesting the fact that an actual creature with similarities does exist.
Actually it originates from the formalities of a lime, or sometimes at the bar when asking for a drink. It's supposed to be "pour me one". Eventually people started feeling sorry for the bird and it all got mixed up
A pootoo bird walks into a bar in Felicity and says to the bartender," Pour me one" To which the bar tender says," why certainly sir, since you asked so nicely unlike the unmannerly buffoons in the bar"
