Trinidad's official position on immigrants ????

Postby recession racer » August 2nd, 2017, 10:14 pm

Someone please explain to me why would the express post such an article? Is this the official stance of the gov?

The imprisoned illegal workers from China are the tip of an iceberg that could destroy Trinidad and tobago like the Titanic. They represent a tsunami of unwanted immigrants with those closest to home, possibly coming in from Venezuela.

We do not have the economic or physical capacity to feel sorry for everybody. No church and certainly no private individual can realistically help too many illegals without eventual detrimental effect to the quality of life of our own financially challenged T&T-born families.

The real and present danger is the political turmoil going down in Venezuela. Added to the American government’s increase in sanctions against Venezuela, they are on the brink of greater disaster.

The press is supposed to allow for the airing of all views not just a select few.
And if it didn't come from the Government why would you think its an official stance of them?

If yuh come thru legally... welcome.

If you are here illegally, whether yuh from Venezuela, India, Nigeria, Syria, Caricom etc... get out.

Currently, Immigration are not empowered to do their jobs especially with caricom members since the debacle with Jamaica. Gary Griffith's stance back then was commendable but Rowley have a hands off approach now.

There is CSME, and there is immigration on the official channels. but there are no quotas or related points, nor emphasis on skilled workers from other countries. or this is not well known nor communicated.

Until we have proper border security, then there will be unchecked immigrants.

but CARICOM members complicate the issue. there was a case in Barbados a few years ago where some non-criminal woman was visiting, and the Bajan guards roughed her up. she was going fro a job, and even Jamaicans coming here, who aren't criminals and have official business get roughed up by Immigration. CARICOM is a joke, and if this is how citizens of ALLIES get treated, then disband it.

Allies implies friendliness, communication & cooperation between entities.these things do not truly exist between the member states of Caricom or the CSME.
Is more like a group of people with each individual watching what every other individual has & trying to see if they could get their hands on some of what everybody else has via elaborate roundabout schemes, treaties & bargains.
