road from arima to north coast

Any of you guys used this road recently and can say if its passable? Thanks in advance...

Passable? Yes, some parts are good, others are rough but it's a great drive esp if you focus on the view vs tying to speed through which is not possible. I know ppl who do it almost every weekend

take your time and pass through and you will enjoy the sights. the road is not for speeding on.

^^ correct... Just Sunday I was going to pass there with my lil lowered wingroad, ended up turning and going spring bridge instead cuz I get fed up of having to avoid pebbles on d route...

A normal car height will be ok tho. It had a corolla behind me normal as ever

You just have to be weary the road is narrow so take your time and give notice around the corners..

I have used the road before beautiful drive... rivals matelot drive imo. But i heard there was some sort of blockage of some sort recently.

If that's the same road for ASA Wright good luck, they were doing construction on a couple sections but damn it's scary. Had a field trip there recently but the road was a lot worse from how I remembered it the previous times I went there. Go slow and use your horn,,alot, oh and don't get caught there in the dark lol.

I think the name of the road is Blanchisseuse Road though.
I pass there last week and there was no obstruction.

It have a real tight corner going downhill (I think is after Brasso Seco) where something like construction was taking place, but it looking the same way months now.

^^they seemed to be building some drainage thingys but all that seems to be doing is make it more likely for landslides to appear after some heavy rains.

If you have a good enough 4 x 4 there is a road/trail not far past Asa Wright ..on the big right hand bend before Morn Blue (Lalaja rd I think) that takes you back down into Lopinot...

-would not recommend making that drive after dark
-a car with normal rims and tyres is fine
-if you cant drive in close quarters dont make that drive cause there is a couple areas where the road gets narrow and idiots does stop in the middle of the road and tell you you have room on the next side...mind you next side is cliff
-the road is mostly smooth, used to be bumpy, but they fix most of it...and there is still construction going on on some parts.
-if you coming from the highway you can enter from demarara road and just go straight up

Last year October I know it was pretty bad after grand riviere till u meet the paved piece before shark river .. And had to turn back with a slightly lowered car

They haven't really repaired the road since the bad landslides earlier, I'd suggest a Lad Cruiser if you must go Matelot

After the heavy rains late last year several areas got forked even more. After waiting for the government to fix it, residents did it themselves lol. Haven't been there since they 'fixed' it though.

Best place for that is Chag on the road to golf course ,you get both introduced Tufted Capuccins and Howlers.. they cross the bamboo right over the road..sometime you may have to take a short trek to see them,they're on every trail.

The Capuccins have been coming to my backyard in Glencoe every year..you know when they're around,you get that fruity shyte smell..they drink my coconuts right in the tree,they just peel one strip of the outer shell skin and then bite a hole straight through to the nut!! Looks like a nice birdhouse when they're through.The perks of bounding the mountain, the swing and jump from tree to tree like bosses,got a vid of them attacking my coconut tree on an old frozen laptop,gotta go to the hard drive to recover it... the perks of bounding the mountain..

Yep down there have a serious concentration of snakes and other wildlife, have helped them to cross the road down there many times,mostly 6 foot plus...plenty long Tree Boas too (cascabel)..

The biggest one was crossing right after 'small boats just before Crews Inn road I had to be real animated and loud to get cars to stop,they all were ready to just zip around me and my vehicle without trying to find out what's really going on,thankfully police was passing saw what was going on and assisted with their blue lights,and kept saying "a big fella boy" ..lol..

Man people dunno how blessed this country is,I can tell you where to go see Scarlet macaws too,right on a highway!! Also know a place full of blue and yellows on the North coast,right off the road !!

As a bird photographer I have seen Scarlet Macaws on the north coast and Blue and Gold at Nariva , in a protected area.

VII hit me a pm on the nearby locations of these beautiful birds .

Those who don't venture into the many areas of Trinidad and Tobago do not know our diversity of fauna . When the cacasplats who had stickers such as no hunting no vote . I would advise any one of these "hunters" look at a map of Trinidad and Tobago on the world map and see how big it really is .

Take a trip to the mainland if you want to hunt.

The Arima Blanchisseuse road is not a road for speeding or lowered cars . Real scenic views of the North Range and hidden rivers. As said above declare your presence around the many narrow and blind corners. The amount of foreign visitor to use this road and Brasso Seco residents who drive it every day , its a real shame in the surface of this road .

Note to self if Blanchisseuse is your goal pass the other way as this way is much longer due to the road surface and elevation changes.

We had a job at the station over a couple of weeks and the barriers were opened.. Went for the drive about September last year and the barrier was gone on the whole

Old video, so expect the trail to be in a worse condition. Probably that is for the better with how nasty and stink Trinidadians are. If they had easy access to the trail, it would be a total mess.

That route definitely is 4WD pick-up business. But i am not sure what route he took exactly on the map... Did he go off the paved road somewhere onto a bike trail? Or that really is the main road across the mountain?

Either way, I changed my mind about doing that drive next week yes.

Arima (Prince Street or Arima By-pass) to Blanchichuesse via Blanchichuesse Road is easily doable with a car.
Lopinot (Lopinot Road) to Blanchichuese road is a dirt trail. (best with a dirt bike as used in video)

This is where the ride along the Lopinot Road Trail ends as it meets the Blanchichuesse Road.
