Documented in newspapers...All kidnappers were gunned down....Might have been cause of their lifestyle but ppl assume it was payback...

Abu bakr was also questioned abt it (kidnapping)....In relation to the MT shooting case many yrs ago...

@ blue qnd Paria,Give me one name of a kidnapper that was killed as retribution for that kidnapping . As a matter of fact , the one who grabbed him (most wanted at one time) is alive and well. He himself was kidnapped and almost killed for his share of the loot. Saw him up to today. Three were killed in different circumstances , for different reasons. One is crippled , nothing to do with that either. Ransom was reimbursed through insurance.

Give me the name of the one who you claim is the one who grabbed him and is still alive and well?

Wanted man to surrender any day now
NALINEE SEELAL Tuesday, August 5 2003

SHELDON LOVELL, alias “Skelly”, the man described as the country’s most wanted man, is willing to surrender to the police any day now because he wants to clear his name.

He is also willing to reveal sensitive information to National Security Minister Howard Chin Lee, and added that he does not trust any police officer. He is also concerned about his safety when he is arrested and in custody, but  feels that he will be executed if he fails to surrender. Sheldon Lovell has been in contact with Zaki Aubiah, expelled member of the Jamaat Al Muslimeen; David Mohammed, local representative of the Nation of Islam; Gemma Ayres, his mother; a newspaper editor,  and a close relative. “Those are the only people Lovell trusts,” said Zaki Aubiah, who is almost sure that Lovell will surrender shortly. Aubiah told Newsday that Lovell, 33, has lost all confidence in people he once considered his close friends, and feels that most of his close associates are interested in “selling him out” to collect the $100,000 reward posted by Crime Stoppers. “He is willing to surrender, but he feels that the timing has to be right.” He claimed that Lovell is not the criminal that he is being made out to be, but added that he is willing to take Lovell to the police when he is ready to do so.

Yesterday, David Mohammed, the local representative of the Nation of Islam, said that he spoke with Lovell last Tuesday night, and he claimed that he was being made out to be a “scapegoat.” He also told Mohammed that he is not the mastermind behind kidnappings in the country. Lovell was advised by Mohammed to surrender, but up until yesterday, Lovell made no attempt to do so. Police sources told Newsday that based on information received, Lovell is one of the main suspects in the kidnapping of Anthony N Sabga III. Sabga was kidnapped last year and released in Belmont after a ransom was paid. Police investigators told Newsday that Lovell was reportedly paid a huge sum of money for his role in that kidnapping. On August 5,last year Lovell was kidnapped outside Alicia’s Guest House, St Ann’s. He was released 19 hours later in Aranguez. Nursing wounds to his face, neck, back and arms, Lovell told police that after being kidnapped, he was blindfolded and taken to an area with thick bushes and beaten for over half an hour by his four kidnappers. In an interview with Newsday after being treated at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital on August 6 last year, Lovell claimed that he was forced to hand over large sums of cash to people he knew. Senior officers insisted yesterday that the search for Lovell will continue round the clock. They added that Lovell is armed and dangerous. He has been described as a menace to society.

Hold this. War over ran$om By ROBERT ALONZO

A fierce battle is being waged between the kidnappers involved in the recent abduction of Anthony Sabga III and a rival gang over the ransom paid for the young man’s release.

Intelligence sources revealed yesterday they learned of the underground wrangling even as the Anti-Kidnapping Squad continued its probe into the current spate of kidnappings.

Police sources said they have unearthed evidence that suspects linked to Sabga’s abduction have gone into hiding in fear of being kidnapped themselves by another gang of kidnappers who want part of the loot.

Squad officers said it has come to their attention from underworld characters that some of the suspects connected to Sabga’s abduction have been on a “spending spree” for the last three weeks.

Sabga III, son of A Norman Sabga, chairman and CEO of the ANSA McAl Group, was abducted on July 14 while on his way home from a nightclub in Chaguaramas.

His kidnappers demanded $5 million for his safe release. He was released the night after.

The Sabga family said they paid a ransom, but it was not $5 million.

Police detained five men for questioning in connection with that kidnapping, but the suspects were released because the police had insufficient evidence to lay any charge.
A senior officer said other suspects have been purchasing jewelry and designer clothing, living a life like wealthy men.

He said the other faction of kidnappers from north Trinidad got word that those men had been involved in Sabga’s kidnapping and want part of the ransom money.

A top officer also revealed another businessman, who was recently kidnapped and released by one gang, was supposed to have been handed over to another gang for a further ransom.

However, the exchange deal between the two gangs for the businessman went sour, resulting in bitterness between the two factions.

Detectives in the Anti-Kidnapping Squad said they have already braced themselves for what they said could turn bloody among rival gangs.

Deputy Police Commissioner Everald Snaggs said yesterday the police have recognised the rise in kidnappings.

He said his officers have been developing strategies to deal with the rise in kidnappings.

Meanwhile, Sheldon Lovell, who was abducted in St Ann’s early Sunday morning, has been released.

Lovell, 32, also known as “Skelly” of Pelican Extension, Morvant, was dropped off in Aranguez by his captors shortly after 1.30 am yesterday.

A demand for $800,000 was made for his release. Police said they had no information if the money was paid.

They said Lovell was badly beaten. He was treated at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital and discharged.

Police have taken a statement from him.
