This might just be a cop-out by the DPP given mixed public sentiment............Let a jury of peers hear the case and decide.
The DPP office by directing charges be laid cannot be said to be supporting anything.
I was reasonably confident this was how it would go in light of available confused fact.
The principle of the presumption of innocence would best be tested when the full evidence is presented in court.

I've also been very concerned as to whether shootings are investigated properly and found to be within the rules as they maybe.

So without seeing the video of the shooting I support what is happening and I hope the guard is given a proper and fair trial.

We need to start enforcing whatever rules we are governed by....for all his alleged watlessness,Pumba is a citizen and has a right to the protection of the law.

Wow that last line dude...just wow.

Pumba has given up his rights as a citizen...which is why he is rightfully dead.

i dont know this pumba character. but if he is an exxcon on murder/gun charges. security guard provided a public service to the country.

one down, the rest to go.

security did his job. badman have to get bullet this rounds from the upstanding citizens. let's turn the tables. this shyt have to stop. hunt them and kill them like the worthless scum that have no value for other ppl lives that they are. in my book. anyone who has murdered innocent civillian or even armed robery has given up their right to life. the right to life applies only to those who abide by it.

do unto others as you would have others do unto you.

#killemall

we need to make it clear that this society will not tolerate murderers.

queue - bounty hunters syndicate.

RS you can explain..... force continuum or continuum of force..

I believe that it was achieved... the security officer is going to get off because witnesses statements would be used and not that footage in the court....
Then he is going to be a millionaire.... lawsuit against the dpp & ag.... And for good measure the family of the dead pest...

Trinidad and Tobago Police Service SAVES THE DAY!

At approximately 7:30AM this morning a suspicious vehicle with no number plates was seen parked up in Dindial Road Piparo, in close proximity to the Piparo Empowerment centre.

The Princes Town police station was contacted and officer Ramlogan and colleague responded in 10 minutes!

The officers intercepted the vehicle and began questioning the men; two senior men (late 50's) of East Indian descent and one younger African male (late 20's).

The officers then saw a bag and had reason to search it. As they began searching it, the African male ran. Officer Ramlogan gave chase firing his gun in the air telling the suspect to stop. Ramlogan then fired another shot at the suspect but he was able to flea the scene.

Three guns were located and several face masks. One of the men was wearing a forensic suit. They were taken to the Princes Town Police Station.

In an exclusive interview with 4TT News, Ramlogan thanked the public for assisting them. He encouraged members of the public to report any suspicious activity.

Thank you TTPS! Please join us in commending the police for a job well done

They driving a Tiida, they really expected to not be intercepted?

And 10 minutes response time is too much...no time for sympathy and excuses....work harder.

A man was shot and killed in Arima following a robbery. He is said to be one of three who robbed a business place on Prince Street, near to the Magistrates’ Court. According to reports, the three men entered the business which operates a roulette machine and announced a holdup. They robbed a number of patrons and were leaving the premises when someone with a licenced firearm pursued and fired at them. One of the men was hit and died on the spot. Police retrieved a gun which laid on the side of the road near the man’s body. Police are continuing investigations. Via Trinidad and Tobago Newsday

Is 'someone' with a licensed fire arm allowed to 'pursue and fire at them'??

Didn't someone in an earlier reply said it was an Off-duty Police?
I'm guessing they can

Isn't that murder/manslaughter? I was wondering about that. Can't be self defense cause the person was running away from the scene. Can someone clarify?
