The child, Tristan Khan, was cuffed and kicked, and stomped upon allegedly by a male classmate in what his parents said was an unprovoked attack on their child.
The incident occurred around 1 p.m. at the Mayaro Government Primary School, located near the Mayaro Police Station.
Tristan's parents, Chris Khan and Shareefa Ali, were distraught as they spoke to the Express about the incident.
Khan said: “Tristan was not doing the other child anything; he was playing with other children when he (the offender) came up to him and 'drop kicked' him in his chest. He started to beat him on the ground. The he jumped up and down on his right hand until the elbow socket broke”.
School officials took Tristan to the Mayaro District Health Facility and contacted the parents.
The child was later transferred to the Sangre Grande Hospital where he is expected to undergo surgery to repair the hand on Thursday.
“Doctors told me they don't know if he will use that hand properly again since there is nerve damage. He is in extreme pain, just bawling and bawling in pain. And he is a right-hander so it seems he might not be able to write with that hand again”, Tristan's mother, Shareefa Ali, said. “This should never happen to my child, not at school, not anywhere”.
An x-ray shows the broken arm of nine-year-old, Tristan Khan.
The father said that on Thursday when he went to the school to collect Tristan's schoolbag, he saw the child who allegedly beat his son, and his father.
“The father did not say anything to me. The school (official) told me not to report it to the police, that there will hold a meeting on Thursday at 9 a.m.”, said Khan. “But my son is in the hospital and I have reported it to the police”.
Khan said he reported the incident to the Mayaro and Sangre Grande Police Stations.
He said on two previous occasions his child was attacked and held two meetings with school officials regarding those incidents.
Ali took to Facebook where she posted pictures of her son in hospital, and called for justice.
She wrote: “Well right now is stress. My son was bullied in school today. His hand was broken so bad he has to get surgery in the morning. They have to wire his bones. Do you think this is right? And to top it off the parents of the other child didn't even have the courtesy to come to the hospital to see what their bully did, and the school is next to the hospital.”
“The bully happy, no pain and (I am) sure he in (his) bed sleeping. My son has to go for surgery in the morning. Steel has to go in his hand with a possibility of nerve damage. I want justice”, the mother wrote.

A more violent approach is now needed. This bully is displaying criminal behavior from a young age, he must be dealt with in a way that will change his life. Knock his teeth out, break a few bones..beat him to a pulp....set the example one time. How much longer are we going to be lenient? Its not working.

ent. certain aspects of the the victims parent's story not making sense.
two previous occasions kid was assaulted, two previous occasions meetings were held. This it seems is the 3rd occasion he was attacked. Just because the other children only saw when the victim got beaten, that doesn't mean the attacker just randomly decided to half kill the victim.
Was it the same offender on all 3 occasions or 3 different children? how much time lapsed between incidents?
Who & what started this? If its the same child beating him up all the time thats one thing, just a bully being a bully, deal with it to suit. But if its multiple children beating him up, unless is a school full of lil lunatics, there may be something the victims parents withholding.
Why was no report made to the Ministry of Education or TTPS on the earlier incidents? Why were those incidents left to slide?
Sorry for small man still tho, that kinda break is absolutely terrible. Hope he gets all the medical care he needs, including psych & physio. He go need a lot.
