Darren Sammy Sacked as Captain of West Indies

Captain of the West Indies team Darren Sammy, who led West Indies to two World T20 titles, said in a video posted on his Facebook account that he has been sacked as captain for the world champs. In the video posted on Friday, Sammy said the chairman of selectors informed him via a phone call that they had “reviewed the captaincy of T20,” and he did not merit a place in the West Indies squad.

“I got a call yesterday morning, it was probably 30 seconds, from the chairman of selectors telling me that they’ve reviewed the captaincy of T20 and I won’t be captain anymore of the T20 team, [and] my performances have not merited selection in the squad,” Sammy said in the video.

Ummm how the hell they gonna sack Sammy??? The man gave us not 1 but 2 championship titles. Is the WICB for real? I'm guessing this is malice from when he blasted their asses off after the T20 title win.

He was the captain of the T20 team only. However this seems to be bad mind as he has performed as captain (bringing home the WC) and his performances in the CPL thus far have been quite good.

He went down in blazing flames of glory as a successful T20 captain at the pinnacle of it's competition, the world cup. WICB will say and do all they want as usual but the fans know and the world knows what he spoke that night was truth and he had to cup in hand to prove it, in spite of it all.

The fans along with myself applauded him when he spoke nothing but the truth. The butt hurt WICB still in their feelings talking bout his performance is sub par. They should be kissing his damn feet for guiding our team to 2 trophies. The players seem at ease and inspired by him.

If this is the case then it would make perfect sense.

The current WICB needs someone that's young, impressionable and inexperienced. Basically someone that can facilitate ghost leaders.

Banana Republics FTL! Imagine multiple recommendations to dismantle a grossly underperforming WICB and the people who fund the WICB cannot do it as yet!

Darren Sammy has been a captain and person who demonstrated personal attributes which must be admired.
We thank him for his contribution to West Indies cricket thus far and I sincerely hope his services can be employed in developing the attitude of new ambitious prospects.
