65KM/H speed limit on pickups, vans, omnibuses and goods vehicles

Postby Duane 3NE 2NR » May 7th, 2016, 10:42 am

Check the MGW on your van or pickup before driving over 65KM/h on the highway.

Vans aren't affected by the 50% luxury tax, coupled with them being diesel and having less fuel cost than a comparative car and it's only natural that consumers will gravitate towards them abd there will be an increase in the number if them on the roads. Can you imagine what will happen if they start charging vans for 65km/h and above on the highway? It's as if we're progressively going backwards.

that speed limit is for class 4 (heavy T) vehicles .
those opens tray vans mentioned can be driven with a class 3 permit due to revised MGW.

What about the newer Ford Rangers?

The TTPS going to check MGW?

I don't know the mgw of the new ford rangers. but it is supposed to displayed on ALL T vehicles.

As for TTPS checking the MGW, are they responsible for doing their job WITH PRIDE?
any class 3 driver ticketed for class 4 speed limit while under 80 should challenge it in court, and rip the officers, brent batson and arrive alive a new one for wasting the law abiding citzen's time.

Thing is those two sections are basically separate. One is dealing with what weight vehicle the driver has to have additional testing and the other is just what the max speed each vehicle can drive based on the weight.

so two classing systems then.
hard luck van drivers.

oh for the days when they used the same system. yunno, before the MGW was increased, so it was easily translated by licensing class of the vehicle.

They should reduce everything to 40km/h and be done with it.

It seems to me, that speed wise, onCe u drive a 't' the max is 65kmph. But license wise, within 't', u can drive with a normal manual license up to a certain weight, then class 4 up to another weight, then class 5 above that weight.
