If it keeps on dropping must be a price when it becomes a good deal only logical

Why is it dropping is my question.
Redman, can you explain your reasoning?

Dvstt,

NEL...is a holding company with 5 or 6 companies in its portfolio.

All under pressure...whether its economic performance...or competition encroaching..

Or a mis priced IPO...

Why do you think it could be going up?

So the oil price will stay low for ever? Must increase at some point in time . Then those who buy at the bottom must benefit.

When you buy a share of NEL you are really buying the following:

TSTT - 51% (most likely bankrupt in 5 yrs)
Tringen - 51% (ammonia prices down 50% and weak demand because of drought)
NGC NGL - 20% (PPGPL is the asset, NGL prices down 50%)
NGC LNG – 37.8% (Spot LNG prices down almost 80%, US started exporting LNG competing with our exports)

Assuming

1)You are trading futures/options on the actual commodity
2)You can/have enough data to predict the bottom
3)The company you are investing in doesn't go bankrupt/is squeezed out after the price does actually bottom.

A low price is only good if it has probability to increase. Buying for a dollar and selling fora dollar is not business.

Look at the bounce of nel. Quick price drop must result in a bounce. Up 1.00 today . This share dropped by almost 50% . Sorry I did not have the cash to take some. All that was required was a fixed purchase every day in that way the actual bottom need not have been needed

For me I just try to think how the masses will think and try to make money from that. And I have been very successful at it. Shares was at 16.00 drops quickly to 8 something there will be a bounce and there was . If I can make money from that then I will.

Are you allowed to short shares on the local exchange?

I dont think so RASC.

We do not have the mechanism s to do this in place.

Shorting in its proper form requires a Market Maker in XYZ to have the stock in hand to deliver to the buyer (borrow) the stock and 'isolate' the quantity shorted until its covered. If this does not happen what occurs is a 'Naked Short" which has the effect of increasing the float(supply) of the stock ....and is illegal in the US AFAIK.

eg:

XYZ has a float of 1M shares in the market.

you decide to short the 250 k of stock,

Naked-you sell 250K to the market-thereby creating an additional 250k to the existing float of 1M.
there is now 1,250,000 shares in circ.
XS supply pushes the prices down-giving the short seller the advantage.

Properly done the 250 will be taken out of circ to allow a net effect that does not unfairly change the quantity of stock in circulation.

Did I miss this? Since I've only seen a summary printed in the papers

Local stocks sinking. I mentioned this was going to happen earlier on in this thread. We might be looking at another 8-15% correction.

the non-TT based stocks are faring a little better. I loaded up on SFC earlier on this year. It seems to be paying off so far.

Read a nice quote today. It was about Oil futures traders who made profits based on the talk of an agreement among oil producing nations to freeze production.

In a weak market, profits come from 'buying on the rumour, selling on the news'.

SFC's revenue stream is more geographically diverse relative to Guardian. The majority of GHL's income is TT based.
SFC's loss making and discontinued UK operations will no longer be on the books from Q1 2016. This should add considerably to the bottom line.

...
The price remains stable (for now) after going ex-dividend.
I expect this to be at ~$9 by year end.
