What if OP doesn't own a credit card and slowly paying down on his trip as he gets the funds?

Fraud Squad hunts for owner who vanished after ripping off customers with bogus tickets

Published on Apr 5, 2016, 1:15 am AST

The Fraud Squad has launched an investigation into the owner of a Tunapuna-based travel agency after receiving reports from dozens of customers claiming that they paid for tickets to travel abroad but were never able to as the agency absconded with their money.
The office of 2000 Travels, located at the Tunapuna Plaza, Eastern Main Road, Tunapuna, remains closed and all its contact numbers are now out of service.
In some instances customers purchased tickets and showed up at the check-in counter at the Piarco International Airport, only to the told that their tickets were never paid for and were in fact fraudulent.
In other cases wrong dates were put on tickets and when customers sought to get a refund they never heard from the company again or were given bounced cheques.
One distraught elderly woman, Sookrani Goberdhan, came to the Express recently to complain that she fell victim to the scam.
She explained that on December 3 last year she purchased two tickets to Canada costing $6,400, through 2000 Travels. She produced receipts which were signed by the owner of 2000 Travels. She said the agency requested that she pay for the tickets in cash.
Goberdhan said she and her husband were expected to leave the country on February 6 this year.
“When we went to the airport, we found out from the lady at the counter with Caribbean Airlines that we cannot travel as the ticket was a fraud. She said the ticket had no confirmation number. It was a big embarrassment,” she said.
