The cause in most of these accidents is just unsafe driving practices. Cable barriers might have helped, but the whole situation probably could have been avoided entirely.

possibly around the same time drivers stop doing things while driving which they treat as more important than driving. talking and driving. eating and driving. rubbernecking and driving. drive first. make everything else secondary. then things would change.

Also when people stop darting across 3 lanes, changing lanes without indicating into 1 car length of space, driving at 140+ with one hand on the wheel while slouched to the left, driving on the highway at night with headlights off, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc.

Yeah, just tell everyone not to break and enter your house. Don't bother with security cameras, burglar proofing or locks on your front door/gate.

Also don't bother with car alarm/gps rescue etc, just teach people not to steal cars.

The cable barriers are there to protect the law abiding drivers.

Every one of those median crossing deaths hurts me as if I knew the vics and it hurts in general to see young bright people die in this way. We imported a system to make concrete barriers in place on the go,the system can comfortably produce a KM a week,we even offered to do a free KM at Trincity where so many people lost their lives and continue to.

This was at the height of spending madness during the last Admin,we made several presentations, brought in technical people from abroad and had demos etc,we even showed where personnel was sent abroad for hands on training etc, they promised a pilot project and even said they got cabinet approval to implement the system in certain areas, after several years nothing came out of it and it reached to the stage where we even became an irritant to officials at various ministries with our follow up inquiries etc,all this while millions-billions were being thrown at people for nothing.

It's been almost 5 years and we are yet to be engaged by the relevant Ministry, was lucky to get a small job with a major contractor on a new road but even that is on hold now. Since the system landed in 2011 and since our first presentation over 50 (maybe more)people have died crossing medians or running off roads with no parapets, and each one hurts my heart, even as I type my eyes are welled up,our offer highlighted particularly dangerous areas where multiple lives had been lost,it was multifaceted and had many other components such as socioeconomic empowerment to the staff pool who are mostly from depressed areas etc.

I even assured them that a metre is a metre and a foot is a foot when we work and we don't want anything for nothing and our prices would be on par with conventional concrete barriers etc,all we wanted was an opportunity to save lives, empower some wayward youths and grow our business the honest way while doing so. We have since mastered production through many trials and as a sub on a current project that's now on hold, but we await the opportunity to really make a difference and are still trying hard to get the system and product mainstream in areas that so desperately needs it. For relative chum change every single major carriageway in this country could be immune to this median crossing scourge that has become so prevalent on our roads.

Sometimes I feel as though someone may cross and kill me one day and actually a Subaru came close in Tunapuna,he spun out hit the median curb and bounced right back into the opposite direction over to the shoulder on his side in the vicinity of Johnson and Johnson,it's very painful and mind bending I am always weary of them and I was ready for him,my family and I witnessed the scene on the highway in Chag when the family of 3 was killed by a truck that crossed close to Price Plaza couple years ago,it happened just a couple minutes in front of us,it was a holiday and we took the kids for a South drive,we saw the 3 dead bodies and I couldn't get it out of my head for weeks. I really hope that this problem can be solved and we can play a part as well.

We stand ready to mobilize at a moment's notice.

My issue with concrete is the barrier being pushed into the opposite lane. Or the vehicle bouncing off of it back into other traffic. I've seen the cable barrier acting as an effective net, snaring run away vehicles

Was the crash picked up by any of the non-functioning cameras?

Keep in mind the car that didn't cross is going in the opposite direction at 80-120 km/h and gets hit point blank, probably never saw it coming.

That is like hitting a wall.

Junior Sammy has one of those casting barrier in place machines, it was used on the new double lane section by Frederick settlement.

Govt only interested in who contracts benefit not public.

I recall last time jack Warner blaming dookeran for not allowing him access to funds to install the cable barriers, not sure what the politics behind. But it was around the start of the unc Warner fallout.
