My guess is that she was with someone she knew and it was probably in the early hours. She was perhaps being escorted with a person she trusted, who probably took advantage of the situation (ie drunken state, lonely and dimly lit area, etc.) and she refused his advances. A struggle ensued and the end result was murder.

Would be interested to hear about the autopsy findings.
