Burning smell coming through AC vent

Postby Arimamassive » February 14th, 2016, 12:27 pm

Blessings guys,

Last night i was driving and when i put on my AC (hadnt used it constant for about 2-3 days) whilst coming down the h/way going at around 125, i got a burning smell coming out my AC vent. I asked the other persons if they were smelling it and they said yes, i thought it was maybe due to the speed i was going at(dumb yes i know lol). Later on in the night after a movie(about 1.5 hours after), i checked my coolant level and it was pretty much topped up. I then started the vehicle, switched on the AC and remained in park position and after about 3-5 minutes the burning smell came back through the AC vents.

This is the first time this has ever happened to me in a vehicle. It's a mitsubishi Cs3 lancer.

What can be the cause of this?

you didnt say if the temperate changed when you got the burning smell..was the ac still functional - ie still cooling when you were getting the burning smell??

turn OFF the ac but turn the blower motor on and see if you get the burning smell...if so your blower motor may be on its way out or something jammed up the blades causing it not to spin properly and youre burning the blower motor...
