Intermittent warm air when ac is on audi b6

Postby shimon » February 9th, 2016, 8:23 pm

Hello has anyone ever noticed this with their audi b6 ac system, the ac would blow very cold then the compressor would switch off and you would get ambient air instead. It mostly happens when driving but when the car is idling it would more or less.

Also the ac will take a a while to start blowing cold i would have to cycle the ac on and off a couple times.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sorted out a bunch of minor issues with mine recently but never had that problem.

I brought the car with a broken ac line if you'd like the number of the guy who sorted it out let me know he's supposed to be pretty good with euros.

When u say circuitry you mean like the measuring blocks for the various systems n280 valve high pressure signal fan controller module etc

First you have to reproduce the symptoms. I suspect standing still everything works perfectly. Start, put on the a/c and start to wiggle wire, start off low tech. I don't have a diagram so I'm not sure how many inputs the pcm needs to control the compressor. I was thinking circuit integrity but when it's working you won't find anything wrong. Stop pulling stuff apart and get a hard fault situation going.

Check ur ac switch and see if the circuit breaks during operation...had this happen to me on my mazda, was a problem with the switch shorting at times...

Thanks for the suggestion but now i cant get it to turn on so at this point until i check the pressure tomorrow i think the compressor is dead

Good. Now is the time you can check for what the computer isn't getting. The pulling and vibrations probably pushed whatever it is over the edge. Seeing you took apart the compressor gas leaked maybe.

When i took it apart and changed the n280 valve after reinstallation i vacuumed the system and checked for leaks at that point everything was ok

from my readings it does come on but there doesn't seem to be any compressing of the gas

Jeepers you talking about the high pressure switch on the condenser ok i will try another one but i thought it would of threw a code did your system throw any codes? How did you pin point it was your high pressure switch? Was your ac cutting off intermittently as well?

yea..it did threw a code . But not directly to the switch/sensor. When i google the code one of the options was to check that specific switch/sensor. Now any time ac give trouble i go straigt to that switch. ON my third audi and all the locations are slightly different but solve problem each time.

it looks some lik this. Think mine green though. Not sure colour is a different.

its a screw on type wit a o-ring seal

Problem fixed it was a combination of stuff but long story short the biggest culprit as side from the other parts was a sticking orifice valve anyone can pm me or call if they ever get issues like mine ima be glad to help out. Thanks.
