AMP cooling question

Postby X_Factor » September 20th, 2015, 9:35 pm

so its a pair of amps mounting vertically in an enclosed box cuboid in shape, inputs to front, power to back
whats the best way to cool the amps via fans?

we know hot air rises, so put a pair of small maybe 3" fans to the top pulling air out
and a pair to the bottom pushing air in?
what about the sides?

Forgot to update my build thread for the frontier.
Got 5 blowers from amazon for like $8.00 and a step down transformer to power them at 5v.
Amp don't even get warm and you barely notice the fans there.

Was either that or a liquid cooling system.

If space permits for two fans, why not use a push/pull system?

That way you would have a flow of air across the heatsink vs circulation of hot air inside the box.

How did you mount them? I'm having a ventilation problem where my amp is mounted

That was so long I think I got from mobile audio concepts. Got that, heat shrink and sound dampening from him.
Last time I spent some time looking around before mark (loudsound) blessed me up. Will throw up the number just now

If place quiet, you can hear them.
They as noisy as ac vents when the fan just above low.

A cheap voltage reg is a LM350 and an old cpu heatsink, and you good for 3A.

Even less hastle is a LM7805. Good for 1A. Nothing additional required.

so i surely need more cooling power
the 300.4 get fairly hot and since its in an enclosed area....that will lead to probs
looking at some fluid bearing fans or the noctura 90mm

Anyone here ever tried the liquid cooling system? I'm assuming it would be more costly than just using fans but will the liquid cooling be more effective?

Liquid cooling is a cool idea, it would be effective. But the benefits would be minimal, Keep it simple.

(what system you talking about doh?)
