Well that was the way to go and would have been a win win for government and the private investor.

This government kinda anti IPO which is a loss

The reality is that the price will fluctuate based on short term demand/supply imbalances on the day/week/month in question.....little of which has any correlation to the underlying business.

There are a bazillion reasons to sell a stock....and only one to buy...so some people would also be taking short term profits...others will be adding to their positions.

As this process continues what usually happens(in the absence of news) is that the 'weak hands' sell first...to 'strong hands'

Ownership of the stock will migrate to owners that holding on.....and supply at these prices will dry up..so the stock moves to a higher range.

This could happen quickly or it could take forever like GHL...and trade in a range for a long time.

Thanks for the explanation.

That's usually the case when men have money jumping up in the band.

NIB bought about 150 million worth of shares in the after market already.

The fundamentals have not changed and if the price goes below 20 it is a good opportunity to buy some more.

Some persons taking about NGL P/E too high but look at NEL. When you invest in something it is the future earnings you are looking at so with NGL you are looking for higher oil prices and more production (Juniper) to be the catalyst for the stock to go higher. In the short term the dividend might be the catalyst since iin the worst of times PPGPL was able to pay a 5% dividend and expect NGL to do the same.

there is also a shortage of alternatives and a shitton of cash in the market..
...since managers need to make returns they will have to deploy money into stocks.

so P/E are less likely to remain low....and since the CBTT is keeping rates artificially low...maybe the metrics are skewed

The dip in price dont mean much as it is purely trickled demand and larger supply of short term investors willing to capitalise.

Lets see what dividend they pay and the outlook of oil prices. Saudi will run out of cash in 5years at current oil price. I suspect oil producers will agree to cut supply to drive prices upwards in 2016 as current prices cannot be sustain.

Demand for this stock will pick up in 2016.

Two days stock steady at 21.50 now, this is the first time stock has not dipped or gone up.
21.50 looks like the bottom.

Stock will never bottom out below the IPO price, we have a small stable market with lots of free capital floating around. Doubt anyone will be willing to let go of their stock below what they paid for it.

It's far from the truth that IPOs don't trade below initial price. Look at Sagicor and GHL. There was a nice article with all the IPOS for trinidad. Will look for it.

And the local market is easy to manipulate.
Short term any number is possible.

Long term it moves higher.

so you get 50cents per share, how much is that on a %per dollar spent buying shares ?
the best returns on the market are around 4% from witco I believe

balance sheet should look better now that the govt is no longer sucking money out of ngc to fund all kind of outside projects

A share at the IPO price was $20 so the dividend yield is 2.5%.

I expect they will declare another dividend at the end of Q4 2015 that will most likely bring the dividend yield over 5%

Some of allyuh real funny yes but anyway.

Low energy prices have forced the National Gas Company (NGC) to freeze all salaries and benefits to staff for the rest of 2015 and 2016.

It will also cut bonuses.

In a memo sent to all staff of the NGC and its subsidiaries—National Energy (NE), Phoenix Park Gas Processors Limited (PPGPL), and NGC CNG—on November 16, the company said it has been impacted by low commodity prices.

Furthermore, the NGC expects this to continue "into the foreseeable future, resulting in significantly lower revenues and earnings; much lower than have been experienced over the past five years".

This will impact about 1,500 employees. Comparatively, the NGC noted: "Across the industry, 55,000 people have been displaced."
