proper services is the least of what they should have to account for.
they should also disclose who hired lawyers to consult -based on what merit -how long was the consultation for ?? who authorized payment, how much was paid who received the payment....and how was payment made.

Sorry, but if you "barely" making 60K a year then you may want to consider the fact that you don't pay tax.

Earned or not they received the money . It should not be a difficult task for Inland revenue to check and ensure that taxes are being paid.

The PP gov't hit the gold mine with this sort of corrupted behavior. Simply because there isn't a "transfer price" type benchmark to compare value for money (given the intangible nature of services in general and the uniqueness of this service in particular).

Clearly the nation was ripped off. But its very difficult to establish and empirically prove this.

This could be by far one of the biggest corruption scandals ever. Makes me sick just thinking about it.

I am assuming fees were paid to law firms and not individuals. In that case we looking at corporation tax and not PAYE. Corporation tax whilst 25% is paid on net income of the firm and not gross revenues so that also negates anything close to 200 million in taxes as I am sure lots of creative accounting takes place.

It may not look as impressive as you think. The first three companies I ever worked for were private ones and the owners made the company pay for literally their whole personal lives. All of their personal items down to their household groceries were purchased on the company's account which they placed under Staff Welfare. Even family vacations were charged to the company's accounts. They then paid themselves nominal monthly salaries which allowed them to pay very little income tax.

if the Government not calling names, no one will be silly enough to put names here. Above are some good hints though. One of them likes their coffee in the morning!

On another note, we all beat up ourselves as if the government of the day cares about the country more than themselves. While it might sound good to say and look good on paper, this goes against the laws of survival.
IMHO, only some parents would sacrifice themselves for their children's survival.

The government of the day will just let enough pass by to incriminate the previous government but not enough to incriminate themselves.

Lets face it, both sides of the fence have some really stupid people and they only have to open their mouth for anyone to notice this.

We need to make changes, we need to stop saying "PNM in power" or "UNC in power" and cease the mentality that our tourism minister has that "we in charge" because both of the major political parties are necessary for any changes that require >56% majority.
