^ this guy sells 12K BTU for $2300 installed but I notice he price gone back up to $2500 not sure why

https://www.facebook.com/PurityAirCondition

Makes no sense going after lennox as I understand they are now the same exact sticker brand like everyother crap out there.

So what's a good alternative to the Lennox?
Should I just go with a normal brand that offers 5 year warranty?

Its not easy, it only works for some specific split units that carry adapters other wise you would end up ripping out all the boards and replacing with universal type for it to work.

I was looking at it myself.

was supposed to be very good stuff until it went sticker brand.

Sticker brand meaning exact same AC with a logo stick on it with piece of paper and glue. There is supposed to be a million different brands being made with the same cheap components or exactly same cheap components.

From what I know the only way to get an AC that is not sticker brand is like Panasonic, if I am not mistaken the Panasonic Logo is embossed on the condenser itself its not a flat square sticker with a different name. The metal itself is supposed to be raised for the markings of the word panasonic. Or if not, the logo itself is different from the rest in that its a logo of the word panasonic with each letters done separate. Its not a cheap square sticker. That and the fact that Panasonic is a lot more expensive.

interesting, where did you buy it and how much did it cost?

I was told by a couple AC guys that Lennox and York no longer makes their own AC and it is now a sticker brand unlike Panasonic, Daikin, LG and Samsung.

I wonder if they are selling counterfeit lennox brands? won't surprise me since there is actually a pioneer AC brand aswell.

paid $5500 for 2 Lennox 12000BTU R410A units last week (with next day installation)

1 year on parts / 5 years on compressor

https://www.facebook.com/groups/153611104824444/

I understand that the R22 units are becoming obsolete. also, the few R22 units that are able to use the R410 gas usually dont last really long once the type of gas is changed (not sure, was just doing research).

i initially wanted to have one of the outside units about 30 feet away from the indoor unit but the cost for copper / line, extra / frequent gassing didnt make sense. the guy told me that most units are designed to work with at least 10 feet distance from each other. anything more will result in poor performance. The best way is to have them back to back.

units are working great....extremely cold (25 x 25 room) and only takes about 5 mins to cool the room.

i'm still trying to understand some of the features....like the fan drying, air extraction, health mode etc. lol

Panasonic ftw man. my sis has lennox units at her place and in less than a year 3 out of the 5 started giving problems.
I have a panasonic window unit going on over 10 years now with no issue, and a pair of panasonic inverter split units going strong for about a yr now. also had a pair of mitsubishi split units that served well for 10 years, but were replaced by the panasonics.

if you get Lennox units for such a cheap price 2 for $5500 then its confirmed that Lennox is now a sticker brand. And confirms with with what Aidan says giving issues in less than 5 years.

A good AC is supposed to give a minimum of 7 years constant use without failing. Parts and compressor not just compressor alone. But is unlikely we will ever see 20 year AC again unless its real industrial grade central units.

Since aidan got 10 years out of his Panasonic that right there is the old legendary units. I kid you not I got a fridge going to make 20 years just now and somehow nothing ever failed. I just don't understand it, the door hinges failing but somehow the motor and fans cannot give out, not sure how that is even possible.

good point! i can't remember ever buying an AC unit so cheap. i hoping to get at least 5 years out of them with full maintenance every 6 months. from what i see going on with some of the major brands these days...i not sure that even possible .lol

+1 on the fridge though....i have one old-ass fridge that out lived 2 fridges i've owned. lmao

the inside is basically falling apart (some shelves already broken off) yet it still cold as ever. its a General Electric (GE)...

^ wow same brand of fridge I also have, General Electric Fridge. Huge double vertical doors one, somehow going on 20 years and no issue never even serviced and my brother bought a brand new whirlpool same vertical doors and his one gave out in 6 years had to replace both compressor and some black box.

I notice they are selling GE AC now in Trinidad but its sticker brand. lol sometimes I does have to wonder if these things are even legal. Cause lots of these AC when you google it. It does not exist online, so my guess is that Trini has mainly counterfeit AC. But then here this if this is the case, how come we don't see counterfeit Panasonic AC?

^ Yeah GE with a sticker on it and the sticker has the word GE printed and a green leaf, not the correct fancy GE logo. Maybe this is a way of legally selling something an AC to make people think its GE.

I always thought Pioneer AC was fake pioneer AC

http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-Ductless- ... B00E9I9I4S

^ but seeing it being sold on Amazon and looking at the logo correctly I notice its not the same logo as the electronics pioneer we know. So I guess the GE is a case like the Pioneer, sticker brands that make you think its the brand you know and love but really its not when you look closely.

so it would seem.

Apparently GE still makes their legendary 25 year lifespan refrigerators, cost is still $25,000 to $30,000 TT

http://www.amazon.com/PFE28RSHSS-Refrig ... frigerator

I suppose we get what we pay for. I wonder how many people would fork out that kind of cash vs buying a whirlpool 7 year lifespan fridge in courts for $10,000.

My house has no voltage issues, if you get more than 5 years of constant use on these normal AC then you lucky. Mine lasted a little less than 5 years but it was on 24/7 majority of the time. Like 70% of those 5 years. In America they use a brand called "Mitsubishi Electric" which is supposed to last longer than Panasonic I am guessing 12 years lifespan, I have never seen a Mitsubishi AC in Trinidad dunno if they sell it down here.

That GE brand is most likely Geneseo Elite.
Have one going on five years, just changed a sensor once.

I saw some Delta Inverter units advertising, and was wondering if they're any good (I'm seeing what they call their 16 Seer and 21 Seer Inverter units)?

I know inverter units are superior to regular (non-inverter) units, but amongst inverter units themselves, are these Delta units supposed to be better than others or are they the equivalent of a "sticker brand" in inverters?

They are supposed to be the same sticker brand equivalent inverters from what I know. Because delta is a sticker brand last I check.

If you spending this much money on an Inverter why not buy a real brand like a Panasonic Inverter? or LG Inverter? You could keep it for a nice 20 years, and just replace parts as needed. Those sticker brands the actual aluminum fins does somehow deteriorate and blow away with the wind.

Who are the agents/distributors for Panasonic and LG units?

Sorry if I missed it earlier, but I didn't see it mentioned while reading through some of the pages here.
