Hopefully he destroys that stadium in south and builds something usable.

Lara is getting something on the inside. Official advisory role etc or maybe even minister on the inside. He has served this country well...

It's a white elephant. Apparently some safety concerns with the build quality. It's been sitting empty for years. Quite an eyesore. Quite a waste of money.

Nothing is wrong with that stadium except UNC bad mouth. There exists no major ground for regional and international cricket in the South. Kamla2015 even promised to make it into an academy (who knows what that meant).

The last govt left many buildings from the last PNM admin unutilized but had the audacity to fear monger that PNM will abandon their projects.

Relax yuhself, soon Red Steel will be hitting 6's into cane fields.

Under the last regime, the Brian Lara Stadium was expected to cost TTD$ 500 Million and be ready for the cricket World Cup in 2006. When the pnm demitted office in 2010, the cost overruns had already crossed one Billion dollars and the stadium was not even 50% complete. The contract to construct the stadium was given out WITHOUT TENDER to Hafeez Karamath Construction who many believe was really a front for Abu Bakr and the muslimeen as a reward for campaigning for Manning in the previous elections. If anyone feels that this tsunami shelter should be completed, please go physically and visit the site. See for yourself what over one Billion dollars has bought. You may be unpleasantly surprised. I 100% agree with Brian Lara that his name should be removed from this shameless display of corruption and incompetence, that some people now want to come and insult our intelligence again.

What should have happened is a formal report commission executed and published....as a matter of public interest.

If there are deficiencies....break it down and put the land to use...

If its unsafe...or improperly constructed then its a safety risk....and should come down.

If its fine...complete the frigging thing and put it to use.

I don't want to derail the thread and I am sure by now everyone knows the credibility of Daran.

I look forward to taking in a match in Tarouba.

Agreed on the derail....
but to interject ..pre 2010 I close friend of mine was asked to tender on some work...all arms length.....and he declined..
He explained to me that there was plenty concern at the operational level at the quality of the engineering, and construction that went into the site.

He also believed (whatever his info source) that the QA/QC on the site was non existent.

Since then the opinion on the site has changed based on political allegiance.

Given the sum of money already spent we are entitled to know the truth.
