Suppose the husband does not have $200,000+ at his disposal?

Nah man. That's way too rational of an explanation.

Didn't want to start a whole new thread but felt this article could also describe T&T and our current tertiary education strategy of which that post graduate scholarship programme is part off.

Most graduates 'in non-graduate jobs',
says CIPD
BBC, 6 Hours ago

The majority of UK university graduates are working in jobs that do not require a degree, with over-qualification at "saturation point", a report claims. Overall, 58.8% of graduates are in jobs deemed to be non-graduate roles, according to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. It said the number of graduates had now "significantly outstripped" the creation of high-skilled jobs.

The CIPD said the report's findings should be a "a wake-up call".

"The assumption that we will transition to a more productive, higher-value, higher-skilled economy just by increasing the conveyor belt of graduates is proven to be flawed," said Peter Cheese, chief executive of the CIPD, the professional body for human resources managers..................http://www.bbc.com/news/education-33983048

Dependency syndrome at is finest. I encountered the same obstacle when I was pursuing graduate study but chose not to cry about it. I simply applied for a scholarship at the foreign university, and got through. Also got through with a fellowship program that allowed me to earn while I studied.

We really need to step out of the 'gimme gimme' mindset. If the government says that the field in which you are pursuing study is saturated then go look elsewhere.

Also, the University of the West Indies' School of Education offers a wide range of MEd degrees, one of which I know for a FACT deals specifically with ICT development.

As I understand it, the chance of one obtaining a national scholarship is severely hindered if the area of proposed study is offered locally.
