Damn the 3 is destroyed. Good thing he's fine.

Better word, obliterated. Same goes for the catch fence. A higher horsepower version of the #42 accident a couple of years ago

Now that was the big one,if that catch fence failed that official in the blue jersey would be a dead man.3 fans injured though. On the bright side jr dominates this night.

That was the ugly one.

That real time replay though when the car hits the fence. Goosebumps every time.

Just goes to show the tech that goes into nascar.People make the 'left turn another left turn' joke but they dont know all the work that has gone into it these days, from the skill of the drivers going 200 mph sometimes inches away from the other car to the safety tech that protect the divers of these metal beasts or the fans in the stands.

#3-Austin Dillon was involved in severe multi-car accident on final lap of the Coke Zero 400 Sprint Cup Series Race at Daytona International Speedway, finishing 7th:

Q) I DON'T THINK I HAVE SEEN MORE HAPPY PEOPLE AFTER A CRASH, HOW ARE YOU?
Dillon: "I am just going to be really sore. It got my tailbone pretty good and my arm. Should be fine, just go ice it up and get ready for Kentucky. But just thank the good Lord for taking care of me and for what NASCAR has done to make the sport this much safer. I just hope everybody in the stands is all right. That is the next biggest concern. Just praying for everybody and glad the good Lord looked out for me tonight."

Q) WHAT HAPPENED?
Dillon: "You know the 11 got turned by the 4 across the start/finish line and I thought the race was going to be over right there. We were almost there and I was just pushing the 24 and the next thing I knew was that I was looking at my roof for a long time. I thought it was all over when I was sliding there and the 2 came in and really got me. So it was a wicked ride but thank the good Lord above for taking care of me."

Q) WHAT WERE YOUR THOUGHTS AS YOU LOOKED OUT THE WINDOW AND SAW YOU WERE SURROUNDED BY CREW MEMBERS TRYING TO HELP?
Dillon: "I thought that was pretty awesome. As soon as I looked up and I don't know if it was Casey Mears pit crew member or Casey right at the door, but that made me feel really good and comfortable. The only thing I was worried about was that there was oil everywhere and I wanted to get away from the car and that was why I was scrambling to get out from under it. And then just wanted to waive to the fans and let them know I was all good."

Q) THE CATCHFENCE. IT WILL BE A TOPIC OF CONVERSATION. IT KEPT YOU IN THE BALLPARK SO TO SPEAK, BUT DID IT DO ITS JOB?
Dillon: "I don't know because I haven't even looked at the replay yet and I don't know when I am going to. But I just think the next thing is that we are going to have to make this racing even more safe. We are running 200 mph and pushing each other around out there and it's just bound to happen. No matter how safe we can make the sport, when you are going that amount of speed, things happen."

Q) JEFF GORDON SAID THIS STYLE OF RACING IS MORE LIKE A VIDEO GAME, BUT IN REAL LIFE. HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE WHAT YOU SAW THERE IN THE END?
Dillon: "It definitely is a video game. With three to go you are just going to push somebody until the end of the race. It's wreckers or checkers. It's like Talladega Nights out there. So it takes a lot of confidence and just staying into the gas is tough. It is a tough sport and it's what racing is about and it is why NASCAR has been here for so long."

Was a hell of a good race .. my boy came in 2nd to his Teammate and winner .. excellent for the 48/88 Teams of Hendrick Motorsports ...

Really glad that Austin Dillon is ok, I was there for the Daytona 500 this year and was sitting not to far from that area where the crash took place. I remember looking at that catch fence and saying to myself "if a car were to fly and hit this fence, how well would it stand up" guess five months after, I got to know the reality of it !!!! .. NASCAR is really doing good things when it comes to safety

Anyways, after Dale Earnhardt Sr died in the #3 Car on the last lap of the Daytona 500 in 2001, Richard Childress decided that the #3 Car will be retired until last year, he brought it back and put his grandson (Austin) in it and co-incidently, the first MAJOR crash for the #3 Car is at Daytona Speedway on the last lap (not the 500 though) ................

Wouldn't mind some Kentucky food to go along with some Kentucky racing.

On a side note thankfully the Stream Cup Series is over for me for the season, until the next FS1 race.

Carl Edwards running with no AC? Man have it good yes.

On a side note, can they get someone more 'enthusiastic' to give the command? Kinda tired of seeing MHG do it. Lol, kinda liked what happened to her at this year's Indianapolis 500.

On another side note thank God I don't have to stream this one cause the way my net has been running since Thursday there is no chance it could take it.

Of course I looking for Gordon to kiss 'em bricks later on

& how this drag package would work out.

------

Michael Waltrip Racing co-owner Rob Kauffman is buying a share of Chip Ganassi Racing, both NASCAR organizations confirmed Thursday.

"Rob Kauffman, co-owner of Michael Waltrip Racing, has agreed to buy an interest in Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates," MWR said in a statement. "The companies will continue to operate separately and compete against each other for the remainder of the 2015 season. They are also currently evaluating ways to field the most competitive race teams possible to provide an excellent platform for their partners and employees for the 2016 season and beyond. More details will follow in due course."

The announcement follows a Sports Business Journal report Wednesday stating Kauffman would purchase a stake in CGR and bring Clint Bowyer's No. 15 team with him. Consequently, CGR would expand to a three-car team, while MWR downsizes to a one-car operation.

CGR co-owner Sabates said Kauffman is not buying out his minority interest, but confirmed the organization is adding a third car, in a statement to SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

"I'm not going anywhere," Sabates said. "This is about making our team stronger; a three-car team is stronger than a two-car. But the rumors that Rob is buying me out are not true; my last race will be five years from (Sept. 9). I will be 75 years old then and will be done."

Figures that a race sponsored by Windows would have a crash that requires a restart soon into it...

I hope people who say NASCAR race cars only turn left see this race. Hell turn 1 is right.

Probably the only race I would wish for rain, though there is a 0% chance today.
