I tried everything stated in this thread and other forums and yet still haven't seen the option to upgrade

Mac > Windows yes

Windows can't get a simple update right

Doubt even MS could upgrade tens of millions of machines all on the same day, they have to schedule it somehow.

But if you in a rush:

was looking for this option - does it mean that once u download this u can install anytime in the future including after the 1 year deadline to install for free? otherwise why is MS going to charge for it after the year is up?

once downloaded you should be able to use this media to install anytime in the future, most likely they're just going to stop hosting the free downloads so anyone who missed out and don't have any media on hand at the time well the option would be there to purchase

They normally don't stop hosting media online.

Good luck gentlemen.

Upgraded from 8.1 on a Toshiba Satellite.

Couldn't get Wifi or Ethernet connection to get the machine online. Half cooked drivers? Nothing available on Toshiba's website.

Rolled back to 8.1 15 mins later.

also had display issues. matlab is blurry however other apps display fine. tried updating the display drivers via dell support. no dice. it turns out that windows 10 is not supported by dell (at least for this laptop).

reverted to windows 8.1

I downloaded media creation tool and activated it manually. Then I had tons of used space garbage left over from windows 8.1.

I then found out about the "reset" button what it does is factory reset your windows 10 as it come the same as if you did a clean install, except its done automatic.

Now its as if I clean installed a brand new windows 10.

The only reason I cared is because Mortal Kombat X works way better on Win 10 no stuttering anymore. And well you need it for Killer Instinct as that uses cross platform multi player with XBOX users. Basically the PC will become an XBOX console with Windows 10.

It does not ask for a product key.

You update it, it installs windows 10. You then to go updates and activate. If you get an error cannot activate right now its because the servers are busy just click it a few times and it activates.

Then go to reset follow the simple steps and you have a "clean install of windows 10" as if you never upgraded. It gets rid of all windows 8 garbage left over.

Laptop owners check with your manufacturer's website to see if they have Windows 10 drivers available for your laptops. That seems to be the majority of problems.

Yep Sony Vaio for example sent a bulletin on their Vaio Update software stating don't upgrade yet because they are in the process of creating Win 10 Drivers.

Win 10 runs great so far on another system i have so far.

I'm sure drivers are available for Win 10 Technical Preview but Win 10 kept on with the changes till the full worldwide release yesterday.
