WTK where to find a grand vitara turbo diesel engine

Hey 2nrz I have a suzuki escudo gf-td02w, wanted to swap out for a turbo diesel engine, have any idea where i could locate one and you have any idea of the price?

Didn't they come with the rf engines?

You need something cheap, reliable and RWD.
Ergo, you need an sr20. Non turbo.

Was considering crossing that bridge but i just thought i would go with something original that would require little if any fabrication.

Let the following guide your decision:
1. Cost of engine
2. Availability of parts
3. Cost of parts
4. Running cost... super... premium... diesel
5. Maintenance cost

It has been my experience that the running cost of a turbo diesel is not all that much lower than a regular gasoline.
Maybe your experience is different.

Kool, thanks for the info. Anyone know where i might be able to locate that turbo diesel, locally?

Some of those came with a Mazda RF turbo diesel engine, same engine in some early pickups. The later versions came with a Renault Turbo diesel motor i believe. The RF diesel engine is pretty hard to find, and if you want the 4wd to work, you may need to get the transmission off of a vitara with that engine (ie, buy a half cut). I was looking for one of those when I was doing an engine swap 2 yrs ago, was very hard to find.
