China: Woman dies after falling into escalator

A woman was killed after falling into an escalator in a shopping centre in central China, local media report.

Surveillance footage from Sunday's incident shows a metal panel at the top of the escalator giving way, causing the woman and her toddler to stumble.

The woman, identified by local media as Xiang Liujuan, 30, was able to push her child to safety as she fell in.

Thats sad...
Most escalators have an emergency stop button at the bottom of the hand rails on either side. Poor child tho

Cnn reported that the employees may be charged for not reporting the loose floor after they almost fell through it just before the woman came up.Such a horrific situation,they must have nightmares every night since.

This has caused me to look at every escalator i use. In no time at all i was able to point out three escalators that have no screws holdjng the plates
