Sky looked clear to me. Wasn't exactly where the lng light does be, was a little more south.

That is Jupiter and Venus you morons. Jupiter obviously being the larger of the two.

actually that's wrong. Venus appears larger than Jupiter because Venus is considerably closer to us among other things.

back in the 80s, conditions were just right to reflect three flares from oil rigs off the east coast, and they appeared as three vertical glowing streaks in the eastern sky, and continued to be visible for a few days....might be something like that

That's not right either. Someone already suggested that and the OP said it was not Venus and Jupiter. He saw those too and these were vertical orange slits / lines like in the photo he posted.

I think this is the most logical explanation.
Lng is right there and the place kind of humid these days.

For the genius posting, the length of the lines were the width of my finger at left in these photos and located right above where my fingers are.
Lights were too dim to get with my phone cam.
Notice Venus?

Try installing an app like Sky Walk and use it to help identify the anomaly.
The only thing I've seen close to the moon at 8:00pm are Venus and Jupiter, but I don't have a clear view of the sky or horizon.

the OP posted a photo of the moon, Venus and Jupiter and showed where what he saw was located in relation to those. He's sure it wasn't the moon, Venus or Jupiter.
