Redrilling axles?

Postby Ted_v2 » May 28th, 2015, 5:24 pm

I got a c32. Looking to do a 5 stud swap both at the front and back.
For the front I wanna use c35 spindles with a31 shock and spring. Stock c32 lower cradles.

To the back however. I'm aware the axles could be taken out and re drilled. New studs could be pressed in and that's it.

But for the drum brakes. I'll need to Weld back up the extra holes? Into the drum I mean. Or something else would fit into this?

Someone told me 280c would work.

Any truth into this?

Or what about a possible rear disk brakes swap?

Any advice accepted. Right now the handbrake cable also has a burst. Trying to figure out all that as well.

either drill teh drums and get new hand brake cables

or

swap in r32 5 lug rear discs with r32 calipers, not sure if the r32 rear calipers have the handbrake cables, if not try same A/C32 rear brakes, redrilled to 5 lug

Saw one today. The guy took out the axles and redrilled them and used a32/33 calipers and rotors. The the caliper bracket was locally made and done poorly.

Personally I think the best bet would be redrilling the axles and pressing in some new studs. Using stock drums and buying new cables. Heard the cables easy to locate.

They need greasing before install tho?

What about the bearings on the axle. You think that should change since it's out?

yes, change everything you can with new parts
bearings, seals, gaskets, bolts for the ring gear, crush sleeve etc, check the backlash and pinion angle.
