Breast milk is best! Sadly, those who not willing will always make excuses to have a powder baby.

Imagine when my baby was less than 2 yrs she was already watching the logo for my company or when I pass by my work and saying "daddy work"

Nothing could be more important than ur child's health and wellbeing.

yea UML we all know breast is best, no need to make others feel that their babies are inferior or under nourished because they not taking breast milk, good parenting is not only breast feeding, come on man be cool. Fact is some babies just dont take the breast milk for various reasons, some being that they mother cant keep up with the supply and demand.
My son breast feeds but my niece doesnt, from day 1 she was a formula baby, she is very healthy and vibrant, dont really notice a difference between those 2 wrt development. Each baby develops at their own pace.

For those that breast feeding, my wife bought this kit, a bit expensive but its good fro storage and convenience, especially when on the move.

Sorry, but that was why i said this.

UML wrote:There will be exceptions but as far as I am aware once a baby is breast- feeding the mother produces milk.

I more referring to those "lazy" mothers who make excuses because they think powder is equivalent to breast and dey cud go Tribe fete instead. I know many Tribe feteing parents who party like rockstars.

Too many mothers making excuses at the expense of their babies health.

Any nurse or doctor will pong dem the same way for giving powder. If it was good or equivalent the baby would not be vomiting or gassy

Some parents even go so far as to stop working and sacrifice and live off a little (one salary instead of two) just for their child. It is a big responsibility and should not be taken lightly.

den many complain that the baby cause dem to put on weight. Breastreeding uses 1000 calories per day!

It's better to buy the box of two packs...savings to be had when compared to tins.

My nephew was on, and daughter currently is on enfamil and both of them seem to be tougher and healthier than my wife's nieces who have been on sma. Would really like to get some closure to the debate of which is better.

Superpharm has the boxes $176 for one.

If you got a baby like me who drinks alot you should consider buying the case and save some $$$$ becasue Milk and Pampers ain't cheap.

Boxes per case?

My daughter used Similac Advanced stage one from day one. Mom couldnt produce enough breast milk even with a breast pump so we ended up on that. Worked really well. She is almost 8 months now and is in the 95% percentile for growth with respect to length and weight.

Price mart has it for $114 per container. 23.2 oz. Lasts about a week. http://www.amazon.com/Similac-Advance-I ... ce+stage+1

Unfortunately we cant get it in Moscow so she moved on to Similac advanced. She took it good without any hesitation like i was expecting.

Fellas, my son arrived on the 19th May, and I feel I turning into a worried dad.

He's feeding via a mix of breast milk and Enfamil. Like my wife doesn't produce enough breast milk because he's still fussy after getting milk from both, so we try to top him up with the formula. Normal stuff?

Another scary thing is the spitting up. Scary, although it doesn't seem to bother him. When he feeds we try to keep him in an fairly upright (45 degree angle) for about a 45 minutes before settling him down in his crib (he's already asleep since he finished ate btw).

The dry skin. Moisturizer and baby oil?

yes this is not unusual early on especially for a first baby. But don't give up trying with nursing. The more you try the better the flow will get. Don't give up. Nursing is considerably better than formula!

We had to supplement nursing with formula (Enfamil Infant) with the twins (now 22months) but mostly because it's two to feed.

if it doesn't seem to be bothering him then don't worry about it too much unless it is every time and a lot each time.

Similac vs enfamil which is better...easier to get...easier on baby...value for money. Etc. Son in 4mths and switched from SMA gold to similac fussiness and now on regular similac. Don't wanna jump to enfamil but similac isn't always available in the grocery

I think Enfamil is just marketed more to pharmacies and doctors. Almost every pediatrician gives samples of enfamil to new parents. Both are good IMO.

whatever formula you use, try to use glass bottles instead of plastic. Glass is much safer as plastics can break down especially with bottle warmers.

Dr Brown's and Phillip's AVENT are good - the Avent has more natural shaped nipples

I say no to glass bottles, the amount of time they get flung on the floor.

Also the pediatrician said any formula you child will take is fine, they are all very similar.

^ Congrats!!!
natural as in non-section and no epidural etc, or natural as in home birth?

crazybalhead wrote:I say no to glass bottles, the amount of time they get flung on the floor.
well stop flinging the bottle on the floor!

All 3 kids were moved from bottles to sippy cups once they were able to hold the bottle / cup themselves.

You know Aveeno is J&J right ?

yeah we had checked them but the water birth was a little too unusual. The twins were complicated at the end and we had to do an emergency c-section. Our son, now 7, was natural, but in a nursing home.

Check the Bill Cosby stand up on Child Birth. Then you will know whether to go natural or with epidural. My wife's labor lasted about 9 hrs. The actual process took about 5 mins though. And I got to see every gooey second of it. Not for the faint at heart, especially when you see that triangle head coming out and you start to freak out about whether the baby is born abnormal or not.
